  1. ProPay to me is a good starting point for any business. But the FEES are higher than a typical merchant account.

I had ProPay when I first started out and it definitely served me well but I quickly realized that I was going to run into the maximum in charges (they didn't offer different options when I had it) and that the fees were quickly adding up.

I have a full merchant account with www.merchantexpress.com - I could not come up with a better plan with either my bank or another local bank.

  2. Lots of options out there that are low cost or Free.

    Free Shopping Carts

    www.oscommerce.com

    www.zencart.com

    www.mals-e.com

    PayPal's Add to Cart buttons

    Low Cost

    www.wahmshoppes.com

    www.ezshoppes.com

    www.diyestores.com

I would certainly make a list of what you want to do on your website and then compare the various options to see what will work best for you.

EDIT: There also various programs out there such as Front Page, Dreamweaver and various WYSIWIG editors that could work for you as well.

  3. You could try a couple different routes.

If you want to be more hands on and do it yourself, then I would recommend the following:

    www.diyestores.com

    www.wahmshoppes.com

If you don't want to have to do anything design wise but maybe your products, then I would hire a designer.

For web design, you're welcome to visit my site for a FREE Quote and consultation. www.riverstreetdesigns.com . I also list a few graphic designer recommendations on my site.

  4. If you plan to use Go Daddy's hosting, I would probably recommend Mals for the shopping cart. BUT there are plenty of options out there. You can just register your domain with Go Daddy and host it elsewhere, it just all depends on what features you need.

Some recommendations for carts that I would have:

    www.diyestores.com

    www.wahmshoppes.com

    www.oscommerce.com

    www.mals-e.com

    www.zencart.com

    www.cubecart.com

And if you use PayPal, you can create Buy Now buttons with them but strictly for the use with PayPal.

    Hope that helps!

  5. Wow $750? Hope they are darn good! While I have had quite a few go to that price it was because they had me doing 25 or more pages on their site so they were paying hourly.

Any image you find on google is copyrighted by the website's owner.

As for ClipArt.com, by paying the fee, you are given the right to use the photos/clipart as you need. You just don't have exclusive rights to them so others can use them as well.

    Hope that helps!

  6. For starting a site, you could use www.diyestores.com ($20.00 a month) and you don't necessarily have to have primitive or country graphics. Any graphics you want to use can be used with the system as long as they are named within the specific parameters.

You get a fully functioning website, shopping cart built in and its truly DIY.
