  1. Keep in mind I'm no expert. Am new and I use a presto pot, I don't have a fancy candle machine but here is what I did..... 1. I heated the wax to 180* 2. I added f/o @ 170* 3. Stirred alot & also added color 4. Stirred some more then when temp. dropped to 100*, then poured 5. I then put them in a box to cool slowly 'cause my home stays very cool. I used the only wicks I have. What type of wicks did you get, what type of containers are you using and f/o? That would help on which wick and size. I can't wait to hear your results.:highfive:
  2. Hope this is what your looking for .... http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23295&page=4
  3. I'm so excited other's are testing. Ya'll keep me posted on your comparison as well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the hot throw.
  4. Thanks, Melissa. I'm no pro, girl. You saw that first pic. I almost gave up with using any color. Thanks for all the help. :highfive:
  5. It has been getting stronger by the day. I've had several ladies @ work comment they love the Hot Apple Pie (cold throw). I love to see them drool over them:drool: . It sits on my desk and they just come by and smell it. They constantly are asking me to sell one to them. I don't feel comfortable with selling yet. I still have more testing.
  6. I have never noticed before either. I went to a market show last weekend and saw them on most of all the candles their. Before making my own, I didn't care about wet spots. All I cared about was the scent and if it was strong enough. I try to keep that in mine when testing. People are going to remember your candles more by the scent throw, imho.
  7. Hello, Everybody!! It has been 48 hours since I poured a couple of testers of Soy Pro. I colored the Hot Apple Pie red. It's very pretty IMHO. There are NO white spots. The tops have stayed completely smooth with no bubbles, no cracks, and no sinkholes. I did not have to do a second pour nor did I have to use a heat gun. All I did was the follow the directions of Melissa from soycandle.com. I have not been able to test the scent throw yet. I plan to do so Monday, May 22nd. I will post the results on scent and let you know. I've got pics but am having trouble getting them on here. I'm hoping to get help with pics and get them posted tonight or tomorrow. HTH
  8. I ordered mine from Melissa @ 1-866-375-8969 from soycandle.com. Soy Pro is not on their website, yet. They are a new company and out of Louisville, KY. The orders I've recieved from them I have gotten fast and I live in MS. (Two days after placing the orders) That helps me with shipping cost, too. They have been extremely nice to me and very helpful. I can't say enough about Melissa. Their website is being worked on. All it shows is wax but they're actually selling all kinds of candle supplies. So, don't hesitate to ask for something. You'll have to ask Melissa when it will be available. I do beleive they will be the only ones carring it. Gotta go I need coffeee..... Jennster, I gotta weinerdog, too. Her name is Maggie and she's black & tan. Spoiled!!!!
  9. I'm no business owner ( maybe someday) but I want to say, " Congratulations and the Best of Luck Girl !!!" :highfive:
  10. I asked Melissa that, too. She said 72 hours minimum. I sneaked a peek @ the red one with baked apple pie. It's so pretty. The top is completely flat with no dips, no cracks, and no bubbles . If I didn't know any better I would thought it was done by a pro. I'm no pro. I won't know until tomorrow if it frost. I can tell that there is not one speck of white yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Tomorrow, I'll try to get a picture posted. I'll test the scent throw Saturday and let you know. I sure do hope this works.
  11. I spoke earlier to Melissa because I'm using their f/o and Soy Pro. They recommended starting @ 5% and could go to 10%. I just got finish pouring up a baked apple pie, creme brulee, and mulberry. I'm really picky about baked apple pie but I love the smell of this one. I can really smell the apple without it being completly drowned out about by cinnamon and butter. Yummy:drool: But its just mho. I really liked they sent the samples in glass jars. I hope they do that in the bigger ounces. I can't wait til they set up.
  12. I just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about you. I'm gonna test w/color today just for you . I'll let you something hopefully by Friday.
  13. Melissa @ soy candle , I pm'd ya. Let me know if you get it. It was my 1st pm. SouthernGal
  14. Hellooo Melissa!! I'm off tomorrow and want to test with the f/o. Is their any tips on what temp to add the f/o with Soy Pro? I can't wait to try creme brulee you hooked me up with. I told some of teachers I was getting it in and they can't wait to test burn it:drool: . TIA SouthernGal
  15. It's not an additive. It's their own mixture of GB soy with a certain % of additives that they will sell exclusively. I understood it is suppose to help with frosting, adhesion, air bubbles, smooth tops and have a good scent throw. I have not tested it with color, so I can't vouch for frosting, yet. I'm not real sure about the scent throw, either. The one container I did use with it, was pretty. It has smooth top, good adhesion to the jar, no air bubbles and I didn't have to do a second pour. HTH SouthernGal
  16. Melissa said its their own soy blend, thats suppose to be goof proof. I tested it the same time I did as the GB 464. It's very pretty wax with real smooth top. I'm not sure about the scent throw. But it's not on their web site for sale, yet. HTH SouthernGal
  17. I recently purchased Vanilla Extract from BCS. I made my mother a couple of candles for Mother's Day. She said it smells nice but it could stand to be stronger. I've used other fragrances and they've been really strong. So, I don't think it's the soy wax. Does anyone know where I can find a really strong Vanilla that works well in soy? TIA SouthernGal
  18. Thanks Sheri. I called Melissa @ soycandle.com and she explained its not on the market yet. They were letting me test it. SouthernGal
  19. I just recently purchased some 464 by Golden Brand and they sent me some Soy Pro to try also. Is it all soy or is it mixed with parafin? TIA SouthernGal
