  1. I have made tarts from 444. They will be a tad soft, but if they are for your use (and family) it would work fine. You may/or may not have to put the mold in the fridge to get them out, but they work fine.

  2. Does anyone do refresher sprays to offer with the wax dipped bears? I had a customer ask, but wasn't sure how well this would work. I also wonder, would you use straight FO or dilute it?

    Thanks for any tips.

  3. I made a 3lb. batch of soap..

the total weight with the lye and water allowed me to divide that into 23= 3oz bars...

I had my husband cut me a bunch of 2" wide pvc pipe, 3" long..I put saran wrap over one end, and duct taped it in place..

I then figured out the gram weight of how much FO I would need for a 3 lb batch of soap..and divided that up....

I had everything labeled, and ready before I ever poured my oils and lye together...

I even had my Fo weighted into coffee cups..:D coffee cups are good for more than coffee..

So with every thing ready and labeled I mixed my lye and oils..

and started measureing out the oils into each individual cup..

I would do 6 or 7 at a time..and them stir them up really good..

then would go on to the next 6 or seven..and I would constantly check on them to see if they were setting up fast, and give them another stir..You diffenitly have to be on your toes..but most importand is to be organized,,and have every thing labeled and ready..This is my second time to do it this way..I like doing this, that way you know if you are going to like a scent in soap,,and if you can color it..with out wasting very much...

I have done this too, but I did 3 bars of each scent(Tony's molds, work great for this) and only 6 scents. Works great, but I can't imagine doing 23 different scents. Wow that must have been a workout,LOL.

  4. If I'm not mistaken, she was just using the heating pads to ensure gel, not to actually cook the soap. I'm afraid they wouldn't generate sufficient heat to replace the oven or crock pot for hot process soap. It would be interesting to try a batch, though, and see just how hot it would get. The worst that could happen is that you'd have to consider it cp and cure it for a few weeks.

This is what I was thinking. I'm still trying to figure a way to make a small heated box of some kind. I'm just stuck on how to regulate the temp.

  5. I'm wondering what makes the oven good for cooking soap? Does that make sense?

I mean, could I make a box with a heater of some kind in it (something to keep it at 150) and would it work the same.

I am so used to, and like the oven process, and my new workshop does not have an oven, or a 240v outlet to put one in. I have been racking my brain for ideas on making a makeshift oven. Maybe someone has ideas that I am missing.

I know some people use a heating pad to cook their soap, does this make it the same as CPOP?

  6. I'm also lovin the Sweet Peas & Rhubarb, Thanks for the suggestion Kymber!

It soaps really nice too. I'm having to go back and forth between the Botella De Esencia and the Sweet Peas & Rhubarb.

The Jury's still out on the Bossa Nova. It seems like everytime I take a whiff, it smells different. More times than not my nose likes it.

I think next time I order, I am gonna have to try the tassi lavender, and get a bigger bottle of the Bacchus ( I only ordered 1 oz). I still have to soap the Bacchus, but OOB I like it. Though to me it doesn't really smell manly(IMO), I guess I'll have to sniff it a few more times to really tell.

I am so in love with Southern Soapers. That just figures though, it seems that my favorite suppliers are all on the east coast and it takes forever (well not really forever, about a week) to get my orders.:waiting:

  7. IYO what is the best sugar or sugars to use for a scrub? And what percentage. I have done over 60% and it still seams like it could be more scrubby. Also where is a good place to buy different sugars (preferably locally)? Thanks for any help.
