Those of you that have read my posts know I've been in wick *ell. I just lit a tester with an htp 105 that came in todays' shipment and by golly, it isn't smoking! Crossing my fingers that I get a good burn pool. After 15 minutes I can already smell the hot throw, so I think I'm set there.
Phew!

I use JS 50/50 and have been happy with scent throw at 1 oz per pound for most FO's. I particularly like the JS FO's with this wax.

I just got them in my shipment today. I'm using JSB 50/50 wax. Will they pop right out of the plastic or will I have to use a mold release before I pour?
Thanks, Sab

I'd drive two hours to save on shipping if I was done testing the wax I was buying and knew that I'd be using it long term.
I live in NH so it's not an option. I think the closest distributor is Ohio, NY, etc.

I've been using it 50/50 with Soy and I love it. Nice smooth candle, with a great scent throw. Now If I could just find the right wick. I'm working on that. I've got a ton more samples coming tomorrow.

The FO's that seem to get to me the most are pine, balsam, and most recently Candied Blueberry. I'll be packing those away for a while.

I tried one from WSP but didn't care for it.

My cooking! When I cook I use my nose to tell if I'm adding the right spices, etc. and just knowing in general if I've got the recipe right. My nose leads the way.
I'm cooking a Rotary benefit dinner for 200+ people Thursday night. I will not be making any candles tomorrow! :shocked2:

Sometimes when I'm pouring certain scents it's so overwhelming that it gives me an upset stomach. The next day when I burn the candle I'm fine.
I just poured 3 test candles - new scents I got today. I'm feeling whoozy from it.

I just got an order from there today too!
You'll love Katie Jo's Pink Lemonade. Some of my other JS faves: Winterberry Wreath, Vineyard, and Balsam Wreath.
I love that she sends full size samples that you can actually use to test a candle or two.

I use a spiral notebook to record the type of wax, wick, Fo, heat and pour temp. Then I go back and record how the candle burned and if it's a good or bad hot throw.

I totally forgot about the clamshells. I just ordered some from WSP. Millcreek was out of stock.

What do you use to package single and multiple tarts? I like the organza bags but they are 30-35 cents each which is too much for a single tart.
Wondering how difficult it is to shrink wrap? Haven't attempted that yet.
I'd appreciate any feedback you all have.

I just ordered a slab of J50 from Candle Science today. I'm in the northeast and they have one of the most reasonable shipping charges/delivery times I've encountered.

I did deduct the container weight by using an empty to tare the scale.
-
I weighed my candle (tared the jar) and let it burn for 4 hours.
The starting weight of the candle was 15.8 oz - after 4 hours it weighed 6.6 oz. I divided it by 4 which gives me an hourly burn rate of 2.3.
I divided the hourly burn rate by the weight of the whole candle which gave me a burn time of 6.8 hours.
Did I calculate wrong? Shouldn't an 8 oz Apothecary burn longer than 6.8 hours? Also, the wax barely moved. It still looks like an almost full jar.
I'm feeling very stupid.

I was thinking of getting a sample pack of HTP's. I only have the HTP 83 which I think would be too small of a wick.
Does anyone have other suggestions for brand of wicks I could try?
-
It's only 3" in diameter.

Spring Cocktail?

Have you seen this candle supplier site from the UK? www.candleicious.biz
It looks like they have several types of soy/veggie based waxes.

I'm using JSB 50/50 Wax with 1 oz JS Coffee Cake FO per pound + 2 drops honey liquid dye.
I've tested the following wicks in a 8 oz Apothecary jar: Eco 12, Eco 14, RRD 47, RRD 50, and RRD 55. I get a great MP and scent throw with all of these wicks but I've wicked down several times because I'm getting a good size mushroom on the wick after less than an hour of burning. I end up blowing the candle out, clipping the wick and relighting again. Also, the wick has to be 1/8 inch or it will smoke.
My concern is that candle buyers will not keep the wick cut that short.
Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong? Or am I being too picky?
TIA

I couldn't get a scent throw from Ecosoya Advanced either (container blend) unless I blended it 50/50 with paraffin. I've heard others say they had good luck with that wax though.

Has anyone ever seen a knock off or something similar to this fragrance?

Oops, didn't realize you had a section for FO's.
