Saw one of these in one of those "fresh" B&B places ( the kind that have the facials in the refrigerator case) and was quite intrigued. Does anyone know how to make these? Looks like a good thing to take to the gym or on a camping trip.

Ok after loooking at some of the archives I have a slighly different question. Since in one thread someone was talking about how castor oil is the main difference between soap and shampoo, has anyone ever tried adding castor oil to a melt and pour base to make shampoo bars? I wonder because to me using lye seems a bit complicated.

4761, I actually wanted to what other's thought about it since I still have about 7 or 8 pounds of the stuff left over from experimenting with making embeds. Based on the pouring temp I thought it might actually be better for making hurricanes.

how do I determine how many drops of FO I can put in this depending on the formulation? NG's site says it can take up to 2% but to me this number is a bit meaningless as it is not one that I can turn into a understandable fraction.

Though I can't test this out yet since this whole candlemaking thing is still a hobby but what about donating some product to a house walk? People could see your product in a home setting and you could use it as a tax write off because generally the purpose of the house walk is to raise money for charity (generally a peservation org.). I'd say you would put the candles in about 1/3 of the homes (after discussing with the homeowners what they would want from your line obviously) with a stack of your cards sitting next to the candle. You can also have your company name put on the pamphlet as a sponser. Has anyone tried this?

has anyone seen any lotion bases that already have an SPF factor to them, or a way to add it?. As a person that is at high risk for skin cancer, I have to wear the stuff every day. While I like the stuff that I use now, I want to see if there is a way that I can make it cheaper. Also there is a product that is big in europe (SPF wipes) that you can't seem to get here that I know alot of moms would like.

how much are people paying for insurance? Though I doubt that I will be ready to sell candles till sometime next year ( got to do all that product testing first) I want to get an idea of costs now so that I can better formulate a business plan.

how do you clean your molds? In particular I am interested in how to clean the clear ones. the idea to put the metal ones upside down in the oven looks promising but I don't know what to do with the plastic ones.

I like foose for the ribbons. they are a bit more expencive but it comes with a cutter for the hole.

How do you use this stuff. Do you add the water cold or are you supposed to heat it like it says on cajun's website? I bought this at christmastime to make my sister some heavy lotion but couldn't figure out how to.

For my breast cancer car fresheners I am using VS Romance type from NG.

It might be easier to give suggestions if you can give what you think the kind of scent you want to go after, such as a sweet or spicy scent.
