  1. I think that is pretty crappy that they told you to add crisco to it. That is their way of saying "add this and shut up about it!" I would check around. There are so many suppliers that carry parasoys. Smaddox pull up all the postings about parasoy on this site and you will see so many people who have posted what waxes they like and dislike and testing results. It may lead you to the right one. Or just blend your own. If you have to go through the trouble of adding crisco you might as well make your own blend.

  2. Okay I know this subject keeps running on. Today I was checking out all the Beanpods. I smelled every scent and looked at every top and color for starters. The light beige's, oranges and pinks all mostly had frosting. On the 8oz and 16oz. I didn't bother with the 25oz. They appeared to look like ECO 14 wicks. I bought the Oatmeal Cookie ( I will have to get that FO). I tested it thinking there is no way this wick will reach all ends. Well for the first hour it started to tunnel. Then after 4 hours it reached all the way across. The wick looks like an Eco and burns like one. It has the slight mushroom but a perfect melt pool. They are doing it without double wicking it. The throw is great too!

Now I swear the 2.5oz I am looking at one right now has a zinc cored wick in it though they swear its cotton. No way this baby has metal right in the middle. I do not understand why zinc for those when the Eco's in that size would suffice. So I am a bit puzzled about that.

  3. I enjoy the CD wicks. I find them easy to wick up or down! Find a supplier near you for starters so you won't getted stripped for shipping. Try a sample pack to see if you like them you can usually get one at BCN, Lonestar or Natures Garden for around the same prices. And they will send you about 5-6 of each size. You can make your own but you still have to pay for the wicking which is different sizes and the tabs which still do add up. Plus you still have to dip the wicks so they burn properly. If you are willing go through that much more work when you can take that extra time to test. Zinc's are not usually recommended for soy wax and RRD's do mushroom in container candles. Ebay might have someone wanting to get rid of CD's check it out but make sure you compare prices. I have noticed a lot of suppliers on ebay that are not that much cheaper than the suppliers that are highly recommended on candletech.

  4. I am the type of person to eyeball things. So I pictured the burn pool with that particular wickand figured how far out it would burn and then how close it would be for both burn pools to blend together. If that sounds understandable. I guess you could say I evenly centerd them equal distance apart from eachother and from the ends of the jar. It just happens to work that way. If you are using soy wax than you will probably have to wick up from that. I use a CD 12 just for the 12oz and it burns perfectly. So I would imagine a 14-16 might work. I have them opposing eachother with the V side on the inside so they will bend outward.

You probably deal a lot with AH being a florist! It took them forever just to email me the price list.

  5. BCN's Strawberry Jam is excellent in soy! I only use 1oz pp. I almost think someone maybe have been asking about strawberry FO on here not too long ago; if you find that, it might give you some other ideas too. Good luck!

That was probably me Amy. I am wanting a Strawberry that smells jut like YC's strawberry. I use NG's right now and its very strong and smells great but its just not that fresh strawberry smell. I absolutely hate Peaks'. My husband made me blow it out it was so aweful when I was testing it. It smells like a strawberry candy.

  6. Try The Jar Store they are still selling the 10oz and 8 oz. I was trying to work work with Anchor Hocking and the rep told me today they are discontinuing them. The jars store stopped offering the 16oz because the weight of the jar was putting a strain on shipping costs. They are very heavy jars. I find them very easy to wick in fact compared to a square jar. CD's work very well in them.

  7. I do have the color blocks that give off nice color but I don't have a micro scale to measure it out. I saw the crystals at Candle Cacoon too and thought about those. The liquid dyes are great if I want to swirl the colors but other than that the 415 frost's up on browns and anything with a blue base to it. I notice it changes the texture of the wax slightly when pouring and setting.

  8. Leave it to Oprah to sniff out the expensive ones. I think we should we shocked to come across one of ours and find out what quality really is. I remember she promoted Trapp a while back. I find nothing remarkable about those candles.

It just says they are made from soft wax. So I am assuming it paraffin. The British are very big on Paraffin for body treatments so I wouldn't expect them to promote vegetable waxes. France would before they would.

  9. Peak sell Cool Citrus Basil and Sweet Pea and mention that it is a BBW type, so I am not really sure - maybe Kevin will reply later. I don´t want to hijack this thread, gonna do a search on the subject.

I don't think sweet pea qualifies as just a BBW type. It is a flower and they didn't tradmark the flower. That is like saying Yankee gets ownership of lilac. You could use cool citrus basil just eliminate the cool part. That is a aromatherapy blend which again is not trademarked. Cucumber Melon isn't either, both BBW and Colonial hold that scent but it isn't their idea. Yankee doesn't hold ownership on all their scents, such as bakery, fruits and floral.

The only ones that you would have to either rename or "type" is the perfumes and certain BBW scents like Moonlight Path and maybe Juniper breeze that are their blends. I would think you could rename clean cotton and the others that have to do with clean laundry. lol

I just saw one of CT members who uses Hersheys as the scent for one of her candles and she hasn't gotten in trouble yet. Yet another woman was sued from Jimmy Buffet just for using "Margaritaville".
