If scent throw is really holding you back, the Problend 400 has about the same melt point so it's also easy to work with, but as it's all paraffin you have to choose your containers and wicks very wisely to not have a sooty mess. But then you get the big hot throw, it just depends what tradeoffs you can deal with.

I have been looking at the Problend 400, I might have to test it out. Thanks for the information !!

  2. Thanks, I appreciate the feedback !! Maybe my expectations as far as the scent throw are too high. I had good hot throw with Apple Harvest from Candlescience at 8%. It just seems like there are quite a few that I have tried that don’t seem to throw real well. I know Problend 600 doesn’t throw as well as 6006, but it’s so much easier to work with in my opinion.

  3. I know Problend 600 can be picky about the fragrances you use. I have found that I need to use between 9-10% fragrance to get what I would consider a good hot throw. For those of you that have a lot of experience with this wax, how much fragrance do you have to typically use?

  4. I tested a bakery scent in pro blend 600 in an 8 oz jelly jar with 8% fo and an eco 2 wick. After one week it had a great melt pool, excellent scent throw. The only issue was that it started sooting slightly. Will a longer cure time take care of sooting issues? I did try a cd

6 in another jar and it didn’t soot, but didn’t seem like it had the scent throw that the eco 2 had.

  5. I'm starting to test Pro Blend 600. I have tried htp wicks and they are ok, but was wondering if anyone else who knows this wax very well has a favorite type of wick they like to use?

  6. Wax: 6006

Wick: .03 crackling wood wick (.375) wide

    FO: 7.5%

    Container: 8oz glass jar/ 2.25 diameter

    CT: 8/10

    HT: 8/10

Had good hot throw after one week, but was better after a few weeks.

The easiest thing I have found is simply adding fragrance to salt.  You can use any salt, but the solar salt sold in home improvement stores in the water softener salt aisle is prettiest. You can find brands with larger or smaller crystals.

add fragrance, optional color and you’re done.

they perform double duty too, can use the spent salt in your vacuum to scent the air as you clean. No waste.

That sounds like a great idea !! I'm definitely going to try that.
