  1. Hi everyone I have never used anyones bases and I am considering Catalina Essentials because I have purchased containers from them and was quite happy with the prices. I noticed they have a shower gel base as well as lotion base and decided to order samples of both. If anyone here has tried their products please share your expereinces. What I am looking for is a shower gel that is highly moisturizing and a matching lotion base.

I thought I would venture out a bit from my other stuff....wow right now I am sort of all over the place but still focused...lol

So, anyone who has had excellent results with certain suppliers, please help me out as I am so weary of the searching and reading and arrrrrgh! Just need a little help right now.

    TIA To Everybody!:)

  2. You can use FCO (Fractionated Coconut Oil) & FO, works great and FCO is cheeper than cyclo. FCO is a dry oil, not oily or greasy, goes on real smooth and drys to a soft & silky feeling. Also FCO is great because it has a very long shelf life.

Will this work very well for very dry skin if used as a after shower spray? I guess what I am asking is how long does it last?

  3. I've wanted to know why that particular candle company was so popular as well. I refused to buy a candle but a few years ago I broke down an purchased a few tarts and felt absolutley foolish afterwards when I got home and realized that I could make the same thing and it would certainly last longer and cost less! I never purchased another tart from anyone, ever again. I can't see paying that much for a canlde but they have managed to build an excellent reputation with people who don't mind paying for them. I have purchased gel candles that had awesome throw and lasted longer than most wax candles and it only cost $2.00 at a local pharmacy. I will be venturing into that area of candle making as well....:D love the easy cleanup which is what interested me about soy candles.

  4. If anyone wants pansies, violas, pink dogwood, white dogwood and dogwood leaves....other leaves....and some random flowers, I am clearing out my last year's flowers and getting ready to start pressing. My sister is going to be pressing larkspur this year and other stuff. I have some cosmos left and will be pressing them all summer, purple and orange. I have autum leaves too...little pretty ones. 10 cents each. ($2.50 shipping anywhere in US) Donita

Hi, I grow absolutely gorgeous roses, hyacinths, daffodils, tulips, rose of sharon, three types of clematis and lilies. I've always wanted to do something with the flowers besides photogrpahing them. I plan to use some of the photographs for decoupage and now that I am interested in making a few of those lovely Hurricane Shells....just wondering how difficult is it to press these flowers and can you recommend a good site where I can learn?

    Thanks So Much!

  5. I tried making 2 x 4 pillars using ecosoya pb and I am not very happy with the results. While I am still playing with the ecosoya pb, I thought I would ask all you nice people what wax performs the best for you. I make container and votives as well but I am new and since many of you have tried every wax and wick there is I thought it best to ask for HELP! :o

  6. Hi, I'm new to this board but not new to whipping up handmade cosmetics. However, I usually stick to waterless formulas such as body butters, lip balms and such. My question is concerning preservatives. The only thing I use sometimes is grapefruit seed extract and tea tree oil. Ok, here goes the question. I see there are plenty of companies offering bases for lotion, conditioner ect. and I am wondering if you were to use these bases with their recommended preservatives and wanted to add something other than what they suggest, how can you determine the amount of preservative to use?

    I hope this isn't confusing...but TIN!

  7. Hi Everyone,

I asked this question on another board but got no reply..so here I am!

Just hoping that someone here uses EO's and can recommend a supplier. I have used MountainRose Herbs in the past but they are a bit pricey on some of them. I would really appreciate your time and help. Also, a question for those who make soy candles. If you use EO's in your candles, how well did they work for you?

  8. Also, where do you find excellent quality FO's and EO's. I've tried various suppliers for my other candles and I am not completely satisfied with them. Also, one more question. What do you use to melt gel wax in? Because I am new at this I don't want to spend tons of money on test equipment. When I started with the other waxes I bought supplies from thrift stores.:D

    TIA, Hibiscus

Read the basics on gel candle making and now all I need is a good FO and EO supplier!..:D
