  1. Dawn, you may also want to check out the ECO wicks. They are made for soy wax, and I have been hearing some great reviews on them. I ordered some Friday, so I will see how they work for me. HTH Brandy
  2. LOL! I couldnt wait either. :DI just ordered a case of it, along with a slab of soy votive wax. The way everyones raving about this wax and the customer service, I figured I would take my chances. Cant wait to get it!
  3. Did they edit their site? Cause I cant find any of these statments?????? I was looking forward to reading the soy candle fad story. :embarasse
  4. Ok, I am purchasing the 16 oz and 8 oz deep tins. Was hoping for some suggestions on wick sizes. I dont mind double wicking. Im useing the Greenleaf perfectsoy 70/30 blend, and 1.5 FO per lb. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA.
  5. I am fixing to place an order for the new 70/30 wax. I will be useing 4" diameter apothecary jars. Im thinking double wicking will be the way to go with this diameter. Any suggestions on some wick types/sizes for this wax/jar? Im gonna definatly order samples, but I havent ever used soy wax or these jars, so Im just looking for a starting point for testing. TIA!
  6. Thanks so much Brenda! Based on your customer service and the rave reviews I will definatly be purchasing this wax from you. Thanks again.
  7. I just requested a sample of this, but may just go ahead and order a slab, because I am getting excited with these reviws, LOL! I am wondering.....do you think you could add some steric acid to this and make tarts and votives too? I would love to find 1 good wax that I can use for everything!!! :DHas anyone tried this?????? What do you think Brenda? TIA!
  8. Ok, so I have been researching soy/parrifin blend waxes for days. The 6006 sounds pretty good, but looks like alot of people are having problems wicking it. I found something called Crafter's Choice Wax SP on WSP, and it sounds really good based on all the reviews there, but Ive never even heard of it. Anyone use this? Im also reading up on Green Leafs new 70/30 blend, and it seems like people are liking it alot, but it also seems like they are having a really hard time keeping it in stock. :embarasse Cant someone just tell me a perfect blended wax that is 1 pour, has great hot/cold throw, and isnt a booger to wick? LOLOLOL! Also, I think I would be in a perfect world if I could find a blended wax that I can use not only for my containers, but for tarts and votives as well. Yes, I know I am asking for alot, :laugh2:I dont really mean to be such a pain. Any advice would be great, as I have always used J223 and am wanting to go with soy now, without having all the soy problems, so blended is looking like the way to go. TIA to everyone that takes the time to respond!
  9. Hello everyone! I just recently switched from J223 to a soy blend for my container candles. I have also decided to add some votives and tarts to my line. I was looking at going 100% soy or soy blend for these. I have just a couple of questions. If I go 100% soy on my tarts/votives, is there still a cure time like with soy container candles? If so, how long? Any recommendations on wax? I dont mind a repour on votives, but would prefer to not have to add aditives. Any help will be appreciated, as I am a complete newbie to votives and tart making. TIA!
  10. I am going to try these for my 8 oz. Jellys. Not sure how big your jars are, but you can check. HTH! http://secure.candlesupply.com/catalog_page_detail.cfm?queries_index=index7&title_bar=Wick%20Center%2FHolder&recordno=19&Product_CatalogID=2570&ProductNumber=wwickcent&ProductCodeID=40&ProductSubCodeID=33&NewProduct=0
  11. Anyone wick this wax with something besides zinc? I kinda wanted to go zinc free, but out of all the posts I have searched, it looks like thats the only thing that has been successful :undecided
  12. I am sooooo confused! I cant count how many suppliers sell suger cookie or cucumber melon............. Are we saying I cant put a label on my candle called sugar cookie? Looks like every name is trademarked!!!!! I can understand something like Yankees Pineapple Paradise or Wedding Day, but buttercreme????? I dont even feel like anyone pays attention to this "law" cause I saw several different brands of candles at Wal-Mart called sugar cookie. ???????
  13. Great! This is sounding good, LOL! I think I will order a sample and try it out. Are you doing good with 1 oz. FO per pound? It says up to 1.5 oz. FO per lb. Also, have any of you tried the votive version of this, the 6028? Im thinking about trying it too for some tarts and votives.
  14. I have been useing J 223 and was thinking about trying soy, but I so love my 223! I was thinking of trying 6006 but have a couple questions. Do you have to let it cure like other soy waxes even though its a blend? If so, how long? What the best temp to add FO, and whats the best pour temp? From reading some other posts, it looks like people are having to wick up on this wax. Any suggestions for a 16 oz. jelly? This wax is supposed to be a "one pour". How would you rate the overall performance of this wax, including scent throw? TIA everyone!
  15. Great! I will be ordering some samples this weekend. Definatly gotta try that Black Raspberry Vanilla!!!!
  16. Oh my! Dont make me turn into a mom here guys! LOL! I just wanted to say I appreciate both of your help. I have never put 2 oz FO in J223. It's always been 1 oz. per pound, and I was haveing a big problem with the leakage. I am positive that it is because I have been adding fragrance at way too low a temp (160) for fear that I would "burn of the scent" by pouring it higher. Now, I am pretty sure that if I applied my new found knowledge to the J225 wax, Im sure I could get away with 2 oz per lb. with alot of FOs, maybe not the heavier ones, but alot of them. The J225 "supposedly" can hold 12% FO so, there you have it. Its all my fault, LOL! But thanks to everyone here, I can hopefully do better this next time. Now I just gotta get rid of these zink wicks I hate. :undecided
  17. I was wondering that too, but then I thought, they are talking about pillars....right????? I dont make pillars but I have a few and since they dont burn down like a votive, the lable wouldnt hurt to be on the candle itself, would it?
  18. I was just looking at their FOs. The prices look great, and the selection is good also. Just wondering about the quality?
  19. I think I am gonna stick with the J 223, add FO at 180 or above, and on those Heavy FOs, try .5 oz per lb instead of 1 oz. Test, test, test, blah.......LOL! Im also gonna try the LX wicks and see how those do. Thank you everyone for your help! I REALLY appreciate it!
  20. I guess I should have been more specific. I was having a HUGE (LOL) problem with fragrance leaking in the J 223 and was useing 1 oz per lb. BUT, after reading a post on another board about someone else having this same problem, especial with heavy vanilla FOs, I think I know what I was doing wrong. The debate was that by adding FO at too low of a temp, you get fragrance leaking, and that by adding FO at to high of a temp, you burn up the fragrance and lose it. I have been adding my FO in the J 223 at 160 degrees which appears to be too low accourding to the majority. They suggested adding the FO at 185-200 degrees, and said you will not lose any of your fragrance and your oil will incorperate better, meaning less chance for fragrance leaking. Would you all agree? My J 223 has excellent throw, I was just gonna try the J225 because of the leakage problem. Also, the J 225 hold 12% FO (2 oz. per pound roughly) and so I was thinking that would definatly help with the leakage problem. But hey, if I just need to add my FO at a higher temp then I am all for sticking with J 223. What do you all think?
  21. Thanks! I have been eyeballing the LX wicks. The J225 is pretty simualar to the J 223, it just holds more fragrance and is supposed to eliminate fragrance bleeding, whick I was having a HUGE problem with. What size LX wicks do you suggest useing in the 16 oz. jellys to get a good burn pool. Im really picky about burning level.
  22. Boy oh boy, do I ever need help! Im useing 16 oz jelly jars, J 225 wax with 2 oz. FO per lb. I tried some of the low smoke zinc, and well, they really werent, LOL! My jars are solid black! I really want to get away from zinc wicks anyway. Anyone have any suggestions on wicking this size jar and useing the high FOs so my jars arent so "ugly", LOL! I mean, the candles smell terrific and I can deal with it, but I dont think my customers will appreciate it. :undecided
  23. Um, not sure exactly what you are looking for, but BitterCreek North has the electric/ceramic ones pretty cheap. Just go to the main site, click accesories, then misc. They are on the second page for $6-$6.75, or less in bulk. Hope this helps!
