To me it when I think Black Magic, I think incense, sulfer, and spice, so first FO I think of is Dragon's Blood mixed with Amish Harvest. (mind you, I have never done this mix, but in my mind I can totally smell it, and quite honestly, as soon as I get home from work, I'm going to mix these two and see what happens. In my mind it's AWESOME - LOL)

Ooh, sulfer, now there's a "dark" fragrance I haven't worked with. My brain is racing with blending ideas!

I'm not yet able to find a sulfer-like FO through Google search. Is there such a thing, I wonder?

I completely forgot about SOS. I think I tried their Nag Champa and found it to be decent as well. I have never ordered from The Common Scents, any other suggestions from there?  I read the description for Fresh Cut Roses, sounds promising. Thank you for your suggestions!

    You are very welcome!

SOS has such a huge selection of oils, I'm like a kid at a playground there haha! They might just have some of the other oils you're seeking as well.

The majority of oils from TCS are designer types, but they do have many single note oils in their "Traditional & Exotic" section. Back to Black by Kilian Type is good patchouli blend as well. The pricing is decent and they offer dram samples of all their oils.

My fingers are crossed for Indigo's Rose oil! The reviews are very promising, indeed.

  3. I only use Fractional Coconut Oil for my roll-ons. It's not thick & heavy and absorbs well into the skin. It's odorless, unlike some carrier oils that can alter the scent of your FO/EO. I've never had any issues using FCO and refuse to use anything else.

Here's a page link to Mama Natural. It's a great review list of different carrier oils and may be of some help to you.

    https://www.mamanatural.com/best-carrier-oil/

  4. I've used Nag Champa from SaveOnScents and thought it was pretty decent. I like that you can purchase "sniffie" samples from them really cheap, too.

I'm not a fan of patchouli as a stand alone, so I can't assist you there, but if you're not opposed to designer types, Tom Ford Black Orchid Type from The Common Scents is a fabulous, unisex patchouli blend!! I believe SOS may have it as well, but I haven't sampled theirs so I can't review.

I've heard that Fresh Cut Roses from Indigo is really good. I currently have a sample on it's way to me in the mail. ☺️

  5. Clean Type from NG sounds really close.

"This refreshing scent by Natures Garden combines the fragrance notes of litsea cubeba, orange, sweet lime, pink grapefruit, passion lily, rose geranium, and white musk. A clean, sweet layer combines the fragrance notes of sweet orange, grapefruit, lime, neroli, and rose to add a sweet feminine layer to the scent while maintaining the soapy, clean essence."

Top Notes:  fresh air, sweet orange, lime, grapefruit
Mid Notes:  rose geranium, neroli, violet, passion lily, litsea cubeba
    Base Notes:  cyclamen, sandalwood, musk

  6. I was thrilled to have come across this company recently. They carry exactly what I need (and can't find anywhere else.) I plan on making then my primary source for containers and have placed two orders with them thus far. And there's been an issue with BOTH.

My first order was glass bottles. They shipped quickly, but there was absolutely no type of padding in the box. My glass bottles were sliding around and clanking into each other throughout transit. Luckily, only one bottle suffered a minor chip. Like, who doesn't place padding around glass bottles??! I contacted Berlin via email & spoke with a nice woman who seemed just as concerned as I. I sent her a photo and she assured me it would be looked into.

My second order from Berlin arrived today. I thought the box a bit large for what I ordered, but then thought to myself, "Maybe they went overboard with padding this time lol." Nope! I got the wrong order. My name is on the outside of the box, but the contents and packing slip belong to someone in a different state. I called and they said they would reship both orders immediately. She told me to keep what had been sent to me (I have no use for the contents) and apologized. Anyone need 40 large PET flask containers haha?

Now, I get that things happen and mistakes do get made. But both my first AND second order?! While I still plan to continue ordering from Berlin because they stock what I need, I feel this is a very bad first impression to give a new customer.

I'm wondering if anyone else orders from Berlin and has frequent issues?

    Edit: spelling correction

WSP has  Burnt Caramel.  It smells like burnt caramel, but I haven't used it in product.

So, it took everything in me not to order the Burnt Caramel. It's currently on sale because it's a closeout FO. I don't want to take the chance of loving it and then not being able to reorder.😕

Is there a spicy, Autumn kind of smelling vanilla that is skin-safe?  Or suggestions on what I can blend to make a good one for perfume?

Vanilla Bean Warm Noel from Indigo is my absolute favorite vanilla. Very vanilla, very caramel-cozy, very sweet.

As for an Autumn kind of vanilla, my first thought went to Vanilla Milk from Arizona Mad Oils. I, personally, feel the description is way off. I was expecting a slightly sweet, milky, perfect vanilla... nope. It's definitely vanilla, but my nose easily picks up a spicy cinnamon-like note from beginning to end. I purchased the 2oz and will not be using it. Unfortunate, because the shipping was pricey. It's not a bad FO and I can see it being used in Autumnal fragrances, just wasn't what I was looking for.

  11. I have no idea what Autumn Flannel smells like, but I did just receive Cozy Flannel from Aztec in the mail today. It's one of their new FOs that was free with my order.

Imo, it's a nice, warm masculine flannel scent, but I can't use it for anything and it will go into my destash oils.

Notes: Fresh Air, Cozy Flannel, Lemon Peel
    Honeysuckle, Violet Petals, Green Leaves
Vanilla Bean, White Musk, Blonde Woods

  12. I'm currently on the hunt for a Burnt Sugar FO and having little luck.

Bramble Berry pops up a lot in my Google searches, but it appears they no longer offer this FO.

I have found Burnt Sugar on only two US websites (I try to avoid FO's from other countries due to high shipping & wait time)...

    The Candle Lab 2oz $14.00 + shipping

"Sweet, warm, and caramelized with just a hint of citrus, like the hardened top of Creme Brûlée."

Wax Poetic Candle Bar 2oz $14.00 + shipping

"Burnt Sugar is like brown sugar, but with the warm and smoky notes of caramelized sugar."

I like Wax Poetic's description better, as the "citrus" in the other is putting me off. However, I don't want to spend over $20 on a 2oz bottle and end up disliking it.

Anyone know of other US sites where I can get a good Burnt Sugar FO?

Could I mix Caramel FO & Brown Sugar FO and achieve the semi smoky burnt sugar scent that I seek??

    Thanks.

I thought about using them as like the poopouri or fart spray as you so lovingly put it, lol. But if I can sell them and get some money back to buy FOs I know I'll use then I will at least try. If no takers than I will definitely use them somehow.

I thought about the "fart spray" (lol) thing too, as well as vehicle spray or making incense sticks. But, like you, I feel like if I could get even a dollar or two a piece for them, then it wasn't a total loss and hit on my bank account. Also, it allows for others to sample at a much lower cost. Win/Win. Unfortunately, since I am a new member, I can't yet post in the Classifieds category. I have 30-something oils not in use lol. Sampling is an addiction haha!
