  1. Last year I took out the phone book for my area looked in the gift section and started with florists. I think I mailed 11 of my wholesale brochures out and got 2 respones within the month. (I didn't do any follow_up after I mailed the brochures.) The next one on my list was gift shops/anitque store. I didn't get any respones from any of them for about 3 months. I should have done the follow up.....

My brochure consisted of all my products and a seperate but attached price list. When all was said and done within the year I had 7 account. I mailed out 30 or something brochures. I should have been able to get more accounts. I should have done the follow ups.

After talking to some freinds about this they siad maybe sending a post card with a reminder about the my products would have helped.

  2. Glow that link is it for just a word or business names? Sorry if it is a silly ?

Okay well maybe I'm not understanding what she's lookin for then.

Wouldn't that be helpful in determining what words are tm and in what area they are TM?

Oopps sorry about that. I read your post wrong all wrong. I though you said that link...okay anyway to answer your question lisa yes that link is for both. Its any word that is tradmarked. When you click on the word it will tell you whether its a business name or a font type or what have you. Sorry.

  3. If I do a search for sweet pea, I come up with 9622 records. That's just for the keywords search.

But if I go and do a search for sweet pea, exact phrase, it pulls up 60 records.

Now I have to go through each record and find out if that name pertains to my product? Or if I'm violating their trademark, right?

    Okay use this search tool

    http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=tess&state=9a0jf6.1.1

click on New User Form Search (Basic)

  4. I keep my packageing low because I buy almost everything locally. Except votive and tealight boxes. I do all the printing myself so my main cost for my packing is labels and ink. I desing all my own labels. I shrink wrap pillars and place the sticker on the outside. I don't do boxes for those. Last year I sold about 1400 3x6 pillars and almost double that for 3x3. Like mystical said. Packaging will either make you or break you. Two years ago I spent over 4000 on packageing and learned my lesson. There was no way I was gonna make that mistake again!

BTW This is only for my retail selling not my wholesale. My packing is much different for wholesale.

  5. Trademarking a business is different than a scent name. For instance. Pomegrante. Is a very popular business name and there are alot of trademarks for it. One is returant one is clothing boutique. So if you want the name Pomegrante for your business you could still TM becuase there isn't one for candles or B&B.

Edited to add. At least not one I could find last night.

  6. hmmm, isn't it possible to upload your font your your website though and have your html reference the actually font right there? I thought you could. That way your web document is referring to your own hosting server for the font.

I'd love some info on using golive....

I tried doing that last year but I couldn't get it to work right. I still had a few that couldn't see it. Auctually one had it default to arial and the other couldn't see anything. The only ones who where able to see it where the ones that had the font already downloaded onto thier comp.

Okay after looking at my stuff again...I think that maybe I didn't do it right. I'm going to go back and see whats up with that.

I use golive6.0. If you have questions pm me but I warn you now I really don't know that much about the program. I'm still trying to figure out the dynamic content part. :rolleyes2

  7. I'm biulding my own webiste too..again I should say..Using Golive

From my experience with this and fonts I have to make every font I use into a picture. It takes more time but the finished look is worth it. I want my site to be easy to use and not worry about people not seeing it the way I want it to be seen. I've been to a few sites that offer a font down load. They usually will say.."to view this site properly please down load this font" Well I hate that. I shouldn't have to down load a font just to view a site.

If anyone has a better way to do this I would love to know.
