  1. Thanks guys for the answers, well as i will need to put them in a container to burn them, can't i just use these containers as molds also, so i don't have to buy molds + containers? and if i do it like that will i need to change the type of wax or wix....? Thanks, Laura.
  2. Hi everyone, Happy Easter! i only posted once on this forum cause i'm more into soapmaking than candle making, but i'm really interested... i wanted to know if it's ok to use straight parafin, maybe with some stearic acid and vybar to make votive candles, and also will all votive totally liquefy,or does it depend on the type of wax you use? and is it necessary to put the votive in a container when you're burning it? Thanks a lot, Laura, Sweden....
  3. thanks guys, but i couldn't really find the answer i needed.....i mean i need the name of the chemical, or whatever it is that e-wax is made of....

  7. Thanks a looooot everybody, the sticky problem is starting to go away now....i guess it was the high olive oil amount like some of u said..... Thanks again, Laura.
  8. well, i made a really small test batch (8 oz) with sunflower oil, i remember measuring way more sunflower (i didn't have a scale then) than coconut oil, added carrot fresh juice before trace (without water discount), a kind of sour cream that they sell in Sweden (milk, cream, powdered milk, and yogurt cultures) lime peel, and a little bit of sunflower oil again at trace...so i think i put 6 or 7 oz of sunflower, and 1 or 2 oz of coconut. well it lathers a loooot, and like i read in many post, and articles, it didn't turn rancid at all, it been about 2 1/2 months, it's not drying at all..... My lard, olive, and shea turned rancid 1 weeks after i made it.. So well, i don't know how it's gonna turn for you... Take care, Laura.
  9. the recipe of the rancid soap : 118g olive oil 56.73% 14.75 shea butter 7.09% 45.75 coconut oil 22% 29.50 lard 14.8% the other recipe: 265.50g olive oil 29.50 shea 91.50 coconut 29.50 lard. for this recipe i doubled the coconut and shea, and put the same amount of lard as in the previous one, cause i was afraid it was the source of the stickiness.... Thanks for the help....!! Laura.
  10. Hi everyone, i made 2 batches of soaps 2 weeks ago with olive oil, coconut oil, lard and shea butter...the soap is a little bit sticky(it's hard though and a little less sticky), why? and one of them smells rancid, what could have happened? could it be the lard that made the soap sticky and rancid, or the shea? and if i use palm oil instead of lard, will it feel sticky too? Thanks a looooottt!! Laura.
  11. Thanks guys for all the answers, so i think i'll only buy palm oil...and stick to my coconut... Thanks a lot, Laura.
  12. Hi there.!!! i wanted to know if you use coconut oil in a soap recipe is it necessary to use palm kernel oil as i read that they have almost the same properties? So if you use coconut oil, palm oil would be better, but not really palm kernel? Thanks a lot.. Laura , Sweden.
  13. hi, i used eucalyptus and sweet orange EO in CP 2 weeks ago , well i didn't weight or measure how much i put, i was just pouring until i can smell it really strong, so i guess i i might have put 1/2 teaspoon or less of both together....but i can't really smell the orange, only the eucalyptus, but it smells good.....and it was a 8oz batch, just to experiment.... so i hope this will help you.. take care, Laura, Sweden.
  14. Hi everybody!! i'm interested in buying wholesale CP soap fragrance oils, so i was wondering where you buy yours, wich companies offer good price and good quality? i was checking royalaromatics.com and saw that they have really good prices, has someone ordered from them, how was it? Tanks a lot, have a wonderful day. Laura.
  15. Hi there, yep i cut the soap but i think it's kinda greasy, i haven't used it yep, but when i touch it i can feel the greasiness, what do you think caused this? the shea 7% or the lard 22% ? and i didn't post the pics cause i don't have a camera, only a phone camera, and the picture is really bad! but i'll try to take another one and see... thanks a lot, Laura.
  16. Hi everyone, I'm not a candle maker, even though i'm really interested, i only make soaps, but my mom really wanna start making candles, so i was wondering if you could help me find good candlemaking suppliers, and what about this wick type, wax type? What are the best type of colorants to use? Some basic recipes for pillars....? i'd be glad if you could refer me a link that explains in details the wick type part.. Thanks to all of you, Have a wonderful day... Laura,, Sweden.
  17. Hi there, first i heard there was a tornado in Missouri, and other states, so i really hope that all of you living there are OK. Well, i used this recipe and run it through the MMS (a really small recipe 8oz, just to experiment) olive oil : 56.73% coco oil : 22% lard :14.18% shea butter : 7.09% i don't know if it's gonna be ok, cause i waited too long between mixing, coloring, pouring, and swirling, so i'll see tomorow.... i swirled with green and yellow oxide from oregontrailsoaps ( i received my samples this morning), but the yellow kinda fade away, and scented it with eucalyptus, and sweet orange eo from a UK supplier (newdirectionsuk.com), and i can smell the eucalyptus oil more than the orange, it smells really fresh !! anyway, i'll post a pic later, cause i don't have a digital camera, and my hubby went out, so his phone is not here,i'll take the pic with his phone later.. Kisses to all of you, thanks for your advice, Laura in Sweden.

  20. Hi everyone! Can someone please help me set up a good 1 pound CP soap recipe, i mean can u tell me wich amount of oils i should use to have a nice soap base? here are my oils: coconut, olive (extra virgin),sunflower, shea, avocado, sesame, lard (optional). I wanna use the shea both as a base oil and at trace, but not in the same recipe. the avocado, and sesame at trace.
