The calculated shipping can work really well. You just need to set the dimensions of the item and the weight of the item.  The tool then computes the overall dimensions and weight to arrive at the freight/shipping cost.

I use it for all my etsy items and it always calculates the weights within reasonable tolerances when I set the size/weight well. It takes a little practice, but has saved my bacon quite a few times.

Okay I'll go back and read it over again, I think I was putting in the overall dimensions and weight of the box and if you add an ounce or two more it won't likely change my shipping cost or the box shipping in so that was my dilemma.

For shipping, have you used the calculated shipping option that is based on size and weight? $5.95 for a single melt is what etsy shows for my area.

I had it set that way but I didn't appreciate how much they jack up the price if someone wants to buy more than 1. Especially since a lot of my items will be single melts. They don't want to spend $11.95 to ship 2 bear melts when it actually only will cost the same. I don't know, I struggled with the shipping over and over and still am not sold on how I'm doing it.

Never purchased from VA and just went on their site. Will have to try their Sugar Plum.

Saw some other interesting scents on there. Have you tried these from them?:

    Carrot FO

    Oreo Cookie

    Kettle Korn

    Hugs and Kisses

    Cranberry Cobbler

    Cherry Pineapple

    Apple S'mores

Just the Cranberry Cobbler, it's amazing. They also have the only Lavender Vanilla I truly love. I keep trying others but coming back to VA now. And they ship fast!

  4. Oh wow I hadn't even thought someone might want to steal pictures of my melts. I'm not sure how that benefits them unless they are selling exactly the same things? I really shouldn't be surprised though. Maybe I'll watermark them with my logo since I don't really have packaging like that picture above.

Net Weight is a labeling requirement in the US for products sold in a “solid” state, like wax melts. Yournproduct weight may exceed the stated weight, but not fall below.

Selling product by weight can be tricky, especially at markets. Reps from the department of weights and measures have been known to want to inspect the scale and certify it in the name of consumer protection.

Oh I didn't know any of this! Maybe I'll change that and not sell by weight on anything then. I will still put measurements and weights up with better pics. I have a light kit coming on Saturday. Anything else you can say between now and then is more than welcome! :)

  6. Okay thanks for looking! I was having issues with the photos and didn't love how they came out. I'll try your suggestions!! I'm looking on Amazon right now for a light kit.

I had only put the weight on the ones I planned to sell by that. Maybe I need to rethink that too then!  :)

  7. I'm not sure if it's okay to post my store address but I'd be really appreciative of anyone that could help me out, just look over the few things I've added and tell me if you think it works or is terrible. I have never had a store for anything other than selling random stuff on Ebay so I'm not sure if what I'm doing is appealing or appalling! :)

I like a different scent a few times a day. Just save the melt for another day.

This is me unless it's one of my favorites like the Lavender Vanilla. I'll burn that until all I smell is wax. I've gotten a good 48 hours non stop from them many times and stronger scents especially cinnamon topped I find last even longer. I don't burn directly in the tart dish though, I use silicone cups and that makes changes easy if I start something and change my mind after it hits the air.

The baby powder can be very overwhelming imo. I haven't used the herbs but I have used the fo lavender and it's a great blend. It's actually 1 that I try to keep on hand.

Candlewic is having a sale, I posted in weekly sales about it. You just have to put code "TREATLB"  in the discount code box and you will get a free lb of fragrance oil with a $75 purchase, plus they offer a 1 oz oil of your choice with every lb purchased. Their ultimate and bold line I've purchased about everyone of lol

I also noticed that Candlewic has the max FO for the EcoSoya PB at 12% where Candle Science has it listed at max 6%. Not sure which to go by on that.

Its just something about them that I don't like any longer.

I love that they are only a few hours from me but my first order from them took over 7 days to get to me from the day they shipped it yet they said it was coming Priority Mail. I could have gotten something to CA in less time than that. They do not respond to emails AT ALL but spam you with requests to post good reviews about them on Google. I was really not happy with their level of service. The order itself was great though so there's that.

It's not THAT bad.  Yes it is made to smell like the insence.  Lots of people LOVE it...I'm just not one of them.

I am definitely going to have to at least get a 1oz to see if I can tolerate it. I used to love the incense but I used to love a lot of really strong scents when I was a smoker that I can no longer tolerate!

We can make scents that only we like, but if we sell, think of all the sales we'd be missing on the ones we hate.  As a previous poster mentioned, Nag Champa is a big seller.  I detest it, but I'd be ditching my second-best seller if I discontinued making it because I don't like it.  I wear a respirator mask when pouring anyway, so I rarely have to smell it.  I just take a quick sniff of each candle I sell just before packing up the order to make sure everything smells OK.

It's a big seller? Okay that makes me for sure need to test it. I don't mind making scents I don't like but some of them like the God's Love my mom is obsessed with makes me sick to smell it in the air so I'm going to make the attempt for her and see how it goes! :)

I like baby powder,i cant burn it long though but mixed with others you would be surprised..

I like Baby Powder in general but I don't know how that would go over as a tart/melt scent for me. I wonder if adding some lavender or chamomile herbs into the melt would make it better even?

O m g. I'm loving the bear! Where did u find the mold? Way to cute. I wouldn't want to melt it lol

    How much does he weigh?

The real test will be in performance, how well it throws when melted and how long

They weight just a tad under 1oz.

I did a search and found them. Making 1 at a time would drive me crazy lol.

I did find 1 that had 3 bears but the bears are different.

    Loving that 1. Great choice

Yes, they are not meant for mass production for sure! I do have 3 of them though. I have a kitty cat 3D too but even with this wax, his ears don't come out with the rest. The reviews on the mold were really mixed so I don't think it's the wax now. Everything else has come right out so far!

I'll definitely report back after it cures and I melt him down!

I can't stand alot that I make. Spices, the greenery for Christmas scents all make my stomach churn. I will make them up and even test the smelly things. Then I give a few to my regulars for testing.

If I don't like it then it means sales are low,or didn't spark enough interest or it didn't throw well for me.

Usually if it didn't spark interest I'll change the name sometimes it sells if not it isn't for me.

Tricky because I've sold oils and people respond back that it was a huge hit for them.😂😂😂

I have a lot of fragrances here that I bought to test for my mom that I honestly don't know how I'll stomach making them. I'm not a fan of really strong flowery type scents. She had 2 she really loves from buying tarts from others: God's Love and Sun and Sand and they both make me gag just smelling the bottles of FO. I'll have to get through it though for her! For customers I'm not sure I want to offer a fragrance like that, I'm afraid with my luck it would be my best seller and I'd never get it out from the back of my nostrils and find peace! 😂
