  1. Is it cheaper to just go to a craft store(Joann's, Michaels) instead of paying for shipping? Or is the quality that much better?

yes very expensive i just came back from my Micheal's and boy there wax for a 11lb was 24.99 WOW ,well i just pick up two more pour pots 4lb and used there 40% coupon and that came out to 7.79 each, hehe love there coupons.

so imo wax is just about cheaper if you get it on line some where.close to where you live.

    good luck

  2. hi everybody funny thing i was working with a new case of wax iga 4630 ..so i decided to do some figuring out.. some say you can get about 20oz of melted liquid wax from 1lb of solid wax..?well i got 16oz of melted liquid wax from 1lb of solid wax. so which is it ?are you supposed to get 20 oz or 16oz like i did?? makes you wana say mmmmmm ?

  3. The fuel surcharge is from the supplier who uses USPS to ship what seems like the majority of packages. USPS doesn't charge a fuel surcharge and even UPS doesn't charge over $2/pkg for a fuel surcharge...right now the surcharge for UPS is 4.75% or approximately $.48 per $10 base shipping charge.

This is the note I saw posted:

After much consideration, all orders placed on & after August 2, 2006 - we will begin implementing a fuel surcharge of $2.35 per order. We truly regret having to do this, but with the rising cost in fuel we are forced to implement this charge.

ok who is this supplier thats adding the extra fuel charge????

  4. Just wondering because my friend received a detailed list of the companies that were gracious enough to send free candles. She also mentioned a few that she was speaking to. Do you mind telling me what Lisa’s website is?

I am just wondering if she is naming us as she sends her emails to make herself sound more legit.

well you can always pm her(lisa) and ask her for the website,

  5. hi lisa this sounds like a good idea, why don't you just make and sell the candles with the spacial wick already in it.you might become a milloner buy selling the wick already in the candle, instead of just selling the wick itself.but it would be interesting to test this wick for another year to try to make it work on the waxes and jars i use,lol :yay::yay: good luck on your new invention hope it works out good for you.

  6. I have never ordered from Just Scents before...and this sale is making me CRAZY! :P I want them ALL!!!! LOL

I need a good blueberry....has anyone tried the Candied Blueberry? If so, what did you think of it?

Also, we are looking to replace our lemon FO...smells too much like pledge...would JS Lemon Peel be a good, clean lemon?

How about their Lavender (GAG :undecided) I don't want to do it, but I know someone will want it....LOL

And still looking for that true vanilla....how about their Vanilla Bean?

    Thanks for the help!

    Jane

you got to order you wont be disappointed and the vanilla bean is good but the ultimate vanilla is better.

  7. don't forget to have lots of money lol for votive i use 4794 wax it holds good scent for me but it is a 2 poured wax but it is worth it.and for my container i use 4630 wax and for me this does very good and i only have to poured once. well have fun making candles, and good luck

  9. Today is my first day on here, And boy am I happy I found this site. I have been to so many and it has been overwelming. I am about to recive my 1st candle making kit, I am starting with soy wax, making tarts and votives. Can anyone tell me the absoult ( I am the worlds self proclaimed worst speller) most important thing you purchased to make everything easier. I have purchased about $150 worth of stuff to start out. :D

I love candles so much and desided after hearing someone elses experince with making them that I could too. When starting out though what is most important to have?

So many people say so many different things and I just dont know...HELP ME PLEASE.

hi and welcome, what do i need come on people lets not forget to tell her she NEEDS LOTS OF MONEY.. lol lol .. have fun and as far as spelling well i use the check spelling on the top right hand corner it works lol

  10. Hello to all I came across this list while searching, It has alot of suppliers by geographical area. Thought it would be useful to those who are just getting started or anyone looking for a place closer to home. I thought it was pretty neat, has alot of good information.

Thought I would post this, If you have already seen it just humor me...:P

I think this would be a good sticky for the top of the threads.

    Good luck and happy melting!

this is very good link thank for the new info.

    good day

  11. Has anyone tried the Leather scent? I was thinking of that one for car sachet bags/blanks.

I missed out of their last ebay sale....I want in on this one!!! LOL

    Thanks...Jane

(Hmmmm, $7.31 to ship a $1.59 pack of tart warning labels. Does anyone know if she will ship a light item like that USPS. Well, I guess I will just have to buy ALOT to make the shipping worthwhile...LOL)

well thats how a company makes up for the loss of an item by charging more for shipping even if it is ups or USPS all they have to do to charge more, is add the pounds of shipping more,it does sound good to get an item for 1.99 on ebay, but look for the shipping cost first.ITS CALLED SHIPPING FRAUD.

  12. Personally, I HATE making tealights, I'm too lazy to stand around and wait for them to set a little then pop the wicks in. I like my wicked jars and my votive wick pins...lol.

I prefer the LOOK of plastic, but there is the melting issue, I suppose. FYI, I ordered metal cups online, which were cheaper, but they got here a little banged up. You may need to reshape them a little. I got mine, with wicks, 100 for $8.95 (the Candle Source). Took the wicking guesswork away.

I got 30 tealights using 1 pound of wax and 1 ounce of oil.

One other thing, the search feature is nice, but I have found that more often than not you get pages of threads that do not relate to your topic and have to read countless posts to find one relevant answer. It's just easier to ask a question sometimes, I was under the impression that this was what this forum is for...

Now, I think I'll go post a few "stupid" questions that could easily have been answered using the search feature just to piss some people off...

piss them off lol lol lol
