  1. I ended up getting Pumpkin pie from RE it was the former Longwycks version. I was a tad nervous as it was spicey in the jar, but I tested a tart today and it was AWESOME! As for the dogs, Blizz my boy is my Avatar and he's also giving my son "hugs", my son is 6 ft. tall, his mom Mora is the one laying on the floor, she's a Canadian show champ and a MOOSE! LOL!

  2. I just wanted to mention something I saw in the post about ISO 9000, don't be fooled by this at all. I am a former ISO inspector and thats all that any of the ISO 9000 or 14,000 series means is that the company does what they say they do. Confusing, yes, to put it simply, if a company made cement boots and had a written procedure on how they made the cememt boots, and followed it to a "T", they could get ISO certification. Any business that has a specific procedure and follows it, qualifies if they pass the audit. So it doesn't mean you get better quality anything, it's just a bragging right, so don't let that ever sway your decision on a purchase.

  3. I only use tealight warmers. I personally don't have a problem with the smoke. I have bought tons of homeade tarts from diff. people and see it occassionally. But I know it freaks some people out. So I should jump to 10%? That would be 1.6 oz. Wouldn't that make it smoke more?

  4. Hi everyone! I have 4 Indiana Candle Fo's I love Sugar Milk, Vanilla Smoothie, Gourmet Caramel Corn and Funnel cake. I usually use 1.4 oz. FO to 1 lb. of wax for all my other FO's. I just got these and the throw is amazing but with a lot of smoke. I use JS 50-50 wax and only pour tarts. The smoke is coming off when burning in the tart burners. Just curious if I should drop right down to 1 oz of FO to 1 lb. Or does anyone have luck with something in between? Thanks in advance for any help!

  5. Thank you so much for the replies! 8% is 1.4 oz correct? I have let them cure. The ones I let cure for 48 hours were smoking and the same with the oens that have cured a week or so. So I know the 1.5 oz. of FO was too much. Just curious on what the average was? I was thinking it was prob. 1.3-1.4 oz per lb. When I used to make candles it was from kits with paraffin blocks and no scent so I had pouring, etc. down pat and wasn't familiar with the FO's. So if 180 is too hot to add frag, what is the proper temp? I had always thought it was 170-175 but I had read on the boards here that the higher temp works better.

  6. :) Hi Everyone! I'm a newbie! Been reading posts now for a few days and have learned a lot and everyone seems so nice and knowledgeable! I have not made candles for years and have decided to get back into it. I used to really enjoy making them, but never had the time. Now I have time! LOL! But have a limited budget so I'm hoping I can get some answers here before I mess anything else up. I've been doing a lot of research and studying and just have a couple questions and since I can't find the answers though it wouldn't hurt to ask! I only want to make tarts and need some advice. I tried the 100% soy and really did not care for it at all so moved to the JS 50-50 which I really love. I ordered a sample pack from JS too and if I added the 1 oz to 1 lb. wax I got no cold scent and no hot throw (added scent at 175) so I went right to 1.5 oz to lb. wax and now have a cold throw and hot throw but smoke. I also got some SOS oils from saveonscents because they had dupes I couldn't find anywhere else, and I got some from Indiana Candle Supply, NG and Frag. Oil Heaven. Could anybody tell me how many oz. per pound they generally use from these co's? And should I be adding the FO at maybe 180? I'd appreciate any help! I'd hate to blow my whole candle budget for the year in a week! LOL!
