  1. I FINALLY got ahold of Keystone and they emailed me that they discontinued the EZPour wax. :angry2::mad: :lipsrseal

So basically the 3 years of testing and all the money spent is down the toilet.

Does anyone know a good 70/30 wax that works well with zinc wicks?

Greenleaf carries the 70/30! It's great stuff; love how easy it is to work with! :rolleyes2

  2. Did you heat your wax high enough before adding Fo & dye..

I stir at least 3 min after adding fo and dye...always look and make sure you have no wavy lines in your oils..that is a sign of not enough stirring too..

Yes, the wax melted to 180, per CS's website before adding the FO and dye. Should I have increased the heat??

  3. A friend of mine asked me to fill a 4" x 4" jar for her. I used Golden Brand 464, McIntosh FO & red dye. I used Eco 14 and double wicked. I followed CS's instructions on heating, to 180, stirring & pouring at 140, to the T!!

Here's my problem. Once the candle cooled it had a terrible looking cracked top, and around the bottom of the jar there are red swirls, obviously the dye!! Also, there are some white areas near the bottom on 3 sides of the candle. These didn't appear until the next morning. After several attempts to zap with the heat gun, the top was slightly better, although rather grainy looking!

What the heck did I do wrong??? It is a larger candle, but I never used this wax before and probably won't again, if I can't get this problem resolved. ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!!:(

  4. I bought some to try it...so far my finding are you CAN NOT use this wax alone!! It doesnt hold very much FO and just look really bad!!!

wanted to add...after I got some to try...then I searched on here for info....course somehow I always do that backwards...but here is a thread I found

Thanks for that thread! After reveiwing it, I don't think I want to invest in 50lb. of wax only to find I don't like it! Guess I'll keep looking. To be honest, I've really only used GL's soy, so I'm not sure what other wax would compare to it! Any suggestions would be helpful!:tiptoe:

  5. Good morning....I searched this board and didn't see what I was looking for, so here's the question. Candlewic's Soy 125 is on sale. I've been using GL's 70/30, but with the price, plus shipping, it's getting expensive. Since Candlewic is in PA, it's closer to me and the shipping is better.

Have any of you used this wax? If so, what do you think of it?

Thanks for any help you can offer. :rolleyes2

  6. Hi Meg,

I use the status jar now..if you sell, these jars are really heavy, shipping would be horrible.I am going to switch to a straight sided tumbler..those would look really nice with the gg in it also. The madison jar is also a nice jar for gg. HTH!:smiley2:

    Kimmeroo

Where do you buy your status jars? I love them, but they are expensive with shipping. I see you live in NY!:undecided

  7. I have to agree with Stella. Once I started to pre warming my containers I have had no problem with air pockets. Not sure if that really makes a huge difference, but it sure helps to slow cool the candles. I pre heat my jars at 170 in the oven and take them out right before I'm ready to pour. They are usually in the oven for about 15 minutes prior to pouring. I also pre heat the pour pot as well. I pour at 200 and I've never had air pockets since. I guess I've gotten pretty lucky because I don't cover them after pouring. I just cool them on a cookie rack and I seem to get pretty good results.

    Hope this helps. :)

Very well said!! I have no more problems, since I started heating my jars first.

  8. I haven't posted pics in a while, so here's a few candles I made over the weekend. The one on the left is Green Apple, then Orange Marmalade & Lavender for the forever candle. The melts were made using my left over palm.

With the forever candle, I only had a maroon tea light; the inexpensive white ones, in the metal holder, sit too low in the candle, IMO!

    Thanks for looking:tiptoe:
