  1. Thank you Steve. You are right about opaque tumblers. I will try cardboard box and forget white tumblers!! I have noticed wetspot in the Yankee Candles, but my candles are full of little air bubbles/wetspots. I have tried to slow down the cooling, but I will try again . Kaisa
  2. I tried to paint outside, but I didn´t get good results. I like that glass's surface is smooth and even. Maybe I just have to buy white tumblers. I want to use white tumblers because (millions) little wetspots makes me crazy. I have to repair all of my candles with heatgun and that's too time consuming. Nothing i have tried to prevent them hasn't helped. I understand few wetspots, but my candles are allways full of them. Heatgun helps to get trapped airbubbles out and then candles looks good! What can I do? I use pure paraffin. (Sasol). Great wax, throws even better than 4627. (Sorry for my english) Thank you for your help! Kaisa
  3. I have Scott profile mask. I like it. Very good mask!
  4. Thank you Trappeur. Yes I did.. . I was wondering if there is a paint for that purpose? Kaisa
  5. Hey everyone! I would like to paint my clear tumblers to white (inner side). Can I do this? Any ideas or tips? Thank you for your help! Love Kaisa
  6. Thank you for your comment. Thats what I will do. Wear a good respiratory mask! I have found very good one now.
  7. Thank you, I use phthalates free fragrances too. =)
  8. You are right! People use fragrances every day in many different products. It would have noticed if they were huge risk. Thank you for this point!
  9. Thank you so much for your support. I feel much better. I make unscented candles too, but I love to use fragrances. There is so much wonderful scents to use! Maybe I just have to relax and trust that CS fragrances are non-toxic in candles, like they said.
  10. Hi everyone! I wrote earlier about my sensitivity to fragrances. This problem was solved by good respiratory mask. No more symptoms. I studied fragrance sensitivity more and I found many articles about fragrances and health risks/illnesses they cause. That makes my wonder how can I be sure that my scented candles are safe for my customers and for me (when Im doing them)? How can I have peace of mind with this? This really bother me. I dont want to loose my health or cause harm to others. I use CS fo´s. There is a line in their website where they say: We adhere to the strict RIFM (Research Institute for Fragrance Materials) standard regarding fragrance safety. Our products are non-toxic when used for their intended purpose in candle making. What this mean? I asked Candle Science this same question, but they didn't gave me proper answer, because ingredients in the fo are secret. Have any of you had any health problems caused by FO? Do you protect yourself from fo's? I still wanna make scented candles, because I love them! But I have to be sure that is safe for everybody.
  11. Thank you so much! Now I will forget those spots! Have a great weekend!
  12. Hello! I'm doing testings with igi 4627. I have problems with little wetspots. They usually appears after first burn and there are many of them! Wetspots are very little, like airbubbles. What is this? I heat the wax up to 185 and pour 180. I preheat my containers and wrap them in to the towel after pour. Can anyone help me to prevent this?
  13. Thank you! Now I have tested HTP 104 with dye and 6% FO. Im very happy. CT and HT is amazing! Much better than lx and cd wicks gave! There was no side smell! Yipii! Finally! I can still smell side smell (burned oil) when Im melting the wax, but FO fade it away. Im still waiting for Aztec reply, they are investigating reason for that. I also got full MP with HTP 104 after third (3h) testburn. Only problem is little too big and flickering flame, so I have to trim the wick. I will order HTP 93 and test them too. Thanks for the tip, Country bee! I also tested ECO wicks, but they colored wax brown and HT was very weak.
  14. Hellou everyone! And thanks for your messages! I have tested HTP 73, 83 and 104 wicks (3" container). I got quite good MP with 104, but flame gets too tall and it flickers too much. Trimming helps, but I try to find wick that doesn't need trimming. (Is this possible??) I also tested LX 18, but it was too small. MP and flame was too small. I ordered bigger LX wicks to make more testing. CD wicks seems to smoke too much and zink wicks flickers and smokes too. Is there any another wicks I could try with 4627? Good luck all of you!! Kaisa =)
  15. I would like to try LX wicks also . I use 4627 and 3" containers too. How much lx wicks mushrooms in 4627? Do you have to trim wick before relighting?
  16. Thank again for your help. I have testburned my candles with HTP and Zink wicks. I noticed that candles with HTP wicks dont smell that much fuel/kerosine. But candles still smells awful (fuel), after I have shut them down . I got help from Aztec to find out, if there's something wrong with this batch. Waiting for their answer... Ill let you know what they say.
  17. Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it. I melt my 4627 in double boiler. I could smell kerosine/fuel fumes (or what ever that side smell is) when I was melting the wax. So now I know that wax dont smell when it's cold, but when it get warmer it starts to smell kerosine/fuel fumes. I understood from topofmurrayshill's comment that isn't normal? Maybe my wax has contaminated?( I get my wax from Aztec.) I also added little ecosoya to wax. That took side smell away totally. I testburned the candles and paraffin candles smell like kerosine/fumes, but soyparafin didn't. I didn't add fo this time. Usually I use 6% fo. I haven't found right wick yet for 4627. Lx 16 and 18 are too small and Stabilo 16 and 18 shooted so much that I couldn't even burn them. I get more wicks (zink and HTP) on friday. Tomorrow I will make few more candles with fo. Thank again for all of you <3.
  18. Induction stove is very fast and hot stove. I have heated wax in alumin pots. Now I understand that wax may have got too hot. Thanks to you!! I make new test candles tomorrow with dobel boiler. I will came back to tell you results. Thanks again. I'm very thankful all of you.
  19. I made little more research. I remelt one of my test candles (I burned it 6h ago) and it smell awful! Fuel isn't right word, it's more like exhaust fumes. Wax from the box don't smell anything, but wax in candles I have burned smells like exhaust fumes. What could cause this? Is this normal? Now I understand that side smell.
  20. Thank you. I have noticed too that different fo's cause different symptoms. I'm not going to work without mask anymore. So glad it helps! Happy candlemaking to you too!
  21. I have tested Lx 16 and 18 now. No mushroomin, but these wicks are way to small for my container. Flame is very small and weak. I get more wicks next week. I'm going to test Stabilo, HTP and ZG wicks . I get bigger LX wicks too. If I don't find proper wick, can I doublewick my container? Or is it too small? (Dia 3", height 3,5")
  22. I heat my wax up in pan, in inductiostove. Could this be the reason? I heat my wax to 185 degrees and add fo. Im just burning one test candle without fo. I cannot smell fuel, so I dont think it's the wax. Today Im going to testburn Pink sugar type candle. I let you know, if there is fuel smell too.
  23. Yes, I think that too. But I haven't figured out what it is.
  24. Yes, I think that too. But I haven't figured out what it is.
  25. Thank you for your help. I had weak ht and fuel smell in Ecosoya. Now ht is very strong with 4627, but fuel smell is still there. CT is also very good and strong. There is no fuel smell. And I dont smell fuel if I smell fragrance straight to the bottle. I dont put anything else in the wax. I add my fo when wax is 185 degrees F. I stir about 2 minutes and pour 82 degrees. Candles looks perfect. I let them cure about 2 days before testing. (with soy I waited at least 4 days) Should I wait longer? I use lx wicks. I havent found right wick yet for 4627. That's why I wonder if that could be the reason.
