  1. I had thought pomace was just another type/grade of olive oil and was going to give it a try, but then I'm on WSP site reading the information and it says, " Pomace Olive Oil is a blend of pomace and vegetable oil". So is that right? Its not pure olive oil? or sometimes is not pure olive oil? I read some of you use it in your formulas can anyone help me out with the pros and cons?
  2. I made the soap with both oils and lye water at about 100-110 degrees. Then I put the wood mold in the oven at the lowest temp my oven has 170 degrees for about an hour or so and cut it the next day. Scent is starting to come back a bit. I keep thinking there is some sort of scent secret I don't know. Has anyone has success with the adding clay to fix the scent that Becky mentioned?
  3. Interesting about how a soap may have more scent when actually using it. The scent is starting to come back as many of you said it might.
  4. Thanks Canybee. That all sounds very practical and solid. On the up side I have found a few scents that are working for me. I'll just keep trying and get my own repertoire eventually.
  5. It was still in the mold. It has a faint scent today. Hoping. Fingers Crossed.
  6. Maybe I'm just judging too soon? Geeze I hope thats right. I'll post back about this in a week or two. Everyone said that scent was good which is why I bought it. I'll wait a bit. Thanks.
  7. I just made it earlier today. I used Coconut oil, Palm Oil, Olive Oil, Castor Oil, Shea butter and rice bran oil. I mixed the FO with the Castor oil because I heard that might help. It didn't help but I've mixed the castor oil and FO before and it didn't hurt it either. I just keep not getting this scent thing right.
  8. I'm so frustrated. I keep making soaps and the scent fades or disappears. Today I used WSP Black Raspberry Vanilla. Its supposed to be a good sticker. I used 1 oz ppo. I soaped at 100 degrees or so. CPOP. I have zero scent in my soap. Its not even faint. Does anyone have any advice for me?
  9. I just was reading about them and decided to give it a try. I tried the soap even though its not cured yet and I really like this salt bar thing!
  10. I'm going to keep an eye out for that deal for sure.
  11. Thanks you guys just made my day
  12. I made the salt bars. They came out well. I just barely cut in time and I'm sure I would not have cut in time if you all had not warned me to cut while the soap was still warm. I really like the salt bar concept. I scented with Sea Glass for WSP and it smells great too. Soycrazy I want those molds! As soon as I save up they are at the top of my current wish list.
  13. When you say "full water" do you mean 38%? Soap calculator seems to default to 38%.
  14. Barbara, Candybee and Chuck Thank YOU! This is exactly the kind of experienced detailed advice I was hoping for. I'll be reading and re-reading all this before I start. I'll post and let you guys know how I did.
  15. So I'm going to attempt a salt bar for the first time. I'm really excited to try this and I'm reading up but I wanted to come here and ask you all any tips or cautions for me? One thing I'm not sure about is I have a mold that makes 32 oz of oil recipes but now I'll be adding a bunch of salt and I don't know how much to cut down on the recipe size to make sure it fits in the mold. Also not sure best percent of salt to use or how much to superfat the recipe. So many questions.
  16. The blend is amazing! I think its the best one I've done yet. Thanks for sharing that.
  17. Thanks Scented. It was really fun making this one.
  18. Thanks Candybee. I'm pretty happy about it.
  19. Just posting a picture of my charcoal soap. Charcoal, Tea Tree Oil and Lavender Oil.
  20. Thanks everybody. I made it! Used 1 tsp ppo of charcoal and I did add lavender to the tea tree oil like Barbara does. I just don't like the smell of tea tree by itself. I can't wait to cut!! I'll post a picture here for sure.
  21. Thanks Candybee that was very helpful information. I think I'm going to make the soap tomorrow.
