Can you use essential oils in wax melts? If so how much? I've read were heating essential oils can turn toxic, anyone else hear this?

Does anyone else think Fillmore's Christmas Tree smells different? And not in a good way.

The only thing I can think of is your repour temperature might be too hot? When I do a hotter repour that will happen to me. Hmmmm...but it sure is a beautiful candle you have there....so creamy and a nice sheen to the candle....
Trappeur
Thanks, that is actually a single pour, no repour.

I can't decide If I should add this scent. Does anyone sell it? If so how does it do? I would think with the popular pumpkin spice latte drinks sold that people would like the scent. I have tested with three people and only one loved it.

I want using it at the time but was considering trying it before it vanished. Just curious if peoples thoughts and if can they plan on going back. Who knows if it's even the same. Can someone please share if they are using it once again and how its working.

Why is nobody talking about this? When these were discontinued you would of thought life on earth was coming to an end. The price and CS seems high though. What did it cost? Are people going back? Thoughts?

This how I did my math, I'll use price at of today. 50lb is $54.49 then divide by 5 to get $10.898 a pound and then divide that by 10 for $1.0898 a pound and my calculation was for 5oz candles and 20oz in a pound so I divide by 4 for $0.27245. or in this case be $0.27 per 5oz.
I never actually calculated my container costs until last week and it actually came to around $0.49 or more because I had to work on it to make more pretty to the eye. I was going to make plaster containers, gloss it up and ingrave it with stencil design but I figured cost would go more towards $1 after I put all that work into it. Also I couldn't get it to work quite right and rather not waste too much time and money figuring it out.
Now however, I am trying something new in couple of days that will be around $0.60 a container after I work on it, and will hopefully look amazing.
So here is where I think your math is wrong. First you don't have shipping in there but thats not what Im talking about. Your good up to the 1.089 a pound. At that point divide by 16 because there are 16 ounces in a pound. Now your at .068 an ounce X 5 = .34 for 5 ounces. Let me know what you think.

Yes if I buy big instead of small I can reduce price but first time doing this I'm a little wary of doing that. My original cost was around $2.50 for a 5oz candle but if i buy big, scent and wax, I can bring it down to $0.90 - $1.05 per 5oz candle, that's including wick, container, wax, scent, label (no packaging). It takes it down to more reasonable but I have to shell out a bunch to start off with learning. I'm just not sure I'd want to shell out as much as it cost to have that price to just start learning.
Here's my breakdown if I buy bigger quantity.
wax : 0.28
wick : 0.08
scent : 0.26 - 0.31
label : 0.03
container : 0.10 - 0.20
shipping : 0.15total : 0.90 - 1.05
Im not sure your math is correct, it should be about .40 for wax unless your only using 2 oz. And what containers cost only .10-.20 ?

Here are pictures of alternatives, and they might have vendors associated with them.
I got a bunch of different sized of each of the plastic cris-cross ones from Peak when they carried them.
also, my hub made me some tin ones that work well but have sharp edges and cut me if I'm not careful. LOL I don't use those ones often...
I want the large plastic ones with multiple holes in the first pic but I can only find them from one place and its; $30 for 50random pcs, they all don't have the multiple holes.

Are there any centering device's for double wicking besides the bow tie style?
-
I can actually get them from Canada for .13, when my son goes and visits he brings me back a case.

I buy about 10,000 a year from Fillmore, no problems. I just haven't gotten around to buying from Impact. Maple's are the exact same, their issue is they play with the price which drives me nuts.
The real question I want to know is were in the heck does Fillmore buy from? I cant believe they get that much of a discount buying in bulk from Impact. They bothe sell them for .16 each

Pouring to hot and cooling to fast. Pour at 150-160

As lovely scents suggested, go to Peak and to Flaming Candle to get samples of waxes to try. This will save you lots of money. Flaming candle has great stuff....fragrance oils too.
If you have decided you want to go with a parasoy for sure.....Have you tried the KY parasoy wax? It has great throw for me. And many others on here. You prolly need to go back to those parasoys you have tried and retry before you start blending. It is strange that none of them would work for you. It sounds as if it is likely to do with your process if you are getting no hot throw from any of them. I would heat to 190, add frangrance no lower than 180 and pour at the temp you wish. What temp are you adding the FO? It could also be the warmer....what wattage of warmer do you have? I recommend testing in a 20 watt warmer.
If you want to blend, you need a paraffin and a soy wax, one pillar and one container, start with a 5050 blend and go from there based on the characteristics you are after. For an all paraffin blend go to IGI 4630 for paraffin and 4796 votive and start with a 5050 blend, then adjust based on results. Some people also use the 4625, but I didn't have great results with that one when I blended with the container. I would recommend buying a large bottle of a frangrance known to have great throw and test all waxes with the same frangrance. You then will know that it is the wax and not the frangrance.
Nickie, what didn't you like with the 4625?
-
Good thought, I will check into that.
-
I'm only referring to release from the clamshell. Some release and some you would swear are super glued in. Verne Brulee is the worst.
-
Amazing I haven't got one response on this
-
Nickie, with the KY Parasoy do you add any other wax to harden? If so which one? Like you I swear the more 4625 you add the less throw the melts have. Im searching for a better combo.
-
I am having trouble with certain scents releasing using 6006 and 4625, actually I have tried mixing it with all kinds of other waxes and none release unless I go 75% 4625 which is not what I want. I Pour at 160 degrees. Any suggestions?

So I want to try some of their fragrances but i just can't get past the high prices. Are they worth it? Do you actually use less oil?
If you do use them can you please tell me what some of their better fragrances are?

Old post sorry

Has anyone found a dup of this?

Fillmore's Christmas Tree Price Increase
in Fragrance Discussion

Why would Fillmore raise the price of Christmas tree by 30%? Seems ridiculous to me, I know the raw materials didn't go up that much. I guess take advantage when you know you have a good product.
