  1. Got ours yesterday. Few good ones and definitely a few duds.

Apple & Pumpkin Strudel is a winner

Pumpkin Bread smells similar to NG Gingerbread...maybe a little sweeter

Oak Barrel Cider smells almost exactly like CW Apple Pie

Spiced Pumpkin Latte smells nice OOB but once in wax it's coming off as weak. Maybe it needs to cure a little.

Celtic Moon Spice OOB smells the same as CW Cinnamon

Santa's Whiskars OOB smells just like RE Christmas Past

Eucalyptus & Thyme OOB smells just like vicks vapor rub

Spicey Apples & Peaches smells decent. Was hoping to find a replacement for TCS Spicey Apples & Peaches. Not quite, but might work.

Cedar, Sage & blackberry OOB smells good...lots of blackberry

    Cinna Vanilla- ok

Cinnamon & Spruce- OOB smells weak. More spruce than cinnamon

Grandma's Cupboard- OOB smells like it might be a winner

Monkey Bread - OOB can't seem to smell anything

    Welcome Home- OOB smells nice

Vanilla Lace- Wife likes it. To me smells almost like Vanilla bean noel from TCS

Molasses Cookie - OOB, like monkey bread, I can't smell anything

Velvety Vanilla - Very weak OOB

Lavender & Chamomile - Not for me

Vanilla Butter Fudge - Sweet not strong OOB

Southern Pecan Pie - OOB seems weak

Toasted Marshmallow .... we  couldn't sell that scent to save our lives. Despite all the great reviews, we couldn't sell it. It almost turns my stomach it's too sweet. Same with Pumpkin Pecan Waffles...great reviews, but can't sell them.

  2. Got my 10lb sample of 3022 the other day. Great wax and very easy to work with. To me, it behaved the same as 6006. I am getting a slightly better hot throw than 6006. Looks like Connie's Candles is the only place to buy it by the case. With shipping from Connie's it would be about $30 more per case than 6006 from another supplier. To order it from the Dallas warehouse you would need to order a minimum of 8 cases delivered on a pallet. Too much to spend at once. Too bad other suppliers didn't pick up this wax.

Here is part of the email I got from Craig at Clarus.

As mentioned, this product is only available in less than full pallet quantities from our Dallas, TX warehouse.

The product is packaged as slabs in 62 LB cartons.  The minimum order is 8 cartons and will be shipped on a wooden pallet.

The current price for this quantity is $1.4700/LB, FOB Dallas.

  3. The cracks in my candles are fairly minimal. Nothing like the cracks in the pictures you posted Old Glory, which may have something to do with the design of the container. For the most part I am able to fix it with the heat gun, but it's just another unnecessary step to take. Thankfully, I only got one case. I will be sure when I order my next case it's a different lot #. I really would hate to switch wax and go through the entire wicking process again!

  4. Well, candle science said they will contact IGI about it and get back to me. Not expecting anything to come of it. I did heat gun the cracked ones and that seemed to take care of the issue for now. We'll see if the crack reappears. Might go back to candlewics CBL-130 for the next batch of wax I order. The CBL 130 is pretty much the same wax as 6006, so I don't think i'll have to adjust my wicking. I just don't like the fact of being dependent on one supplier for wax. I'll keep an eye on these and hold them back for a few days to make sure no cracks appear before releasing them in the stores.

  5. Maybe it's just me, but I have seemed to notice this a few times. You get a 1oz sample and make a candle. The throw is awesome, so you go ahead and order a big bottle. Make some candles with the FO from the big bottle, do everything the exact same way and the scent throw is not as strong. You can notice this most times as soon as you open the big bottle that it's not as strong as the 1oz sample. Are some suppliers known to "water down" a little on the big bottles?

  6. Thank you Amanda. I appreciate your response!

I don't use dye in the candles, so that part won't be a concern. Yes, it's definitely a darker wax and "smells" different. Like you said, as soon as I cut into it I knew something was different. I use zinc wicks so hoping wicking won't be an issue. I was reading on another forum that EAP changes wax and products on a whim and try not to get too attached to any of their products. Not sure how true that is, this is my first time doing business with them! The difference for me was about $25 with the lower price and shipping. I'll let you know how it works for me.

    Thanks again

  7. Has anyone ever tried EAP6006 (Early American Candle/EAP innovations)? I am used to using IGI6006 and just got some of EAP's 6006 and it's definitely a different wax. Thought it would be the same wax and the price with shipping was less than candle science. I'm thinking I screwed up and should have just sucked it up and got the IGI from candle science. Any opinions from those that have used both would be much appreciated. I just poured a few and will wait and see how they perform.

  8. Nope, haven't tried crackling firewood from WSP. Thanks for the recommendation. Yesterday I ordered crackling fireplace from NG that Amanda talked about. I'll see if that's what i'm looking for. If not, I'll probably try crackling firewood. hahaha...by the time I find the one I like it will be summer!

  9. I ordered up fireplace from just scent. we'll see how that works. Sure can get expensive ordering these oils. I'm trying to stick to just a couple suppliers so when it's time to reorder I don't get hammered on shipping. I really don't want to carry 100 different scents from a dozen different suppliers! Buying oils can be an addiction that I don't want to take on! Thank you for the responses. MUCH appreciated!
