  1. Thanks for the suggestion to air them out! I will definitely do that! I emailed TCS to gripe about the scent and to ask if the wax will pick it up. They said it shouldn't. Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't. I'd hate to have 600 skunky clamshells. That's a lot of wasted wax.
  2. I keep hearing good things about Fillmore. I think I'll place an order with them and toss these. :c
  3. I got my order of TCS clamshells today and am so bummed because they have a skunky plastic smell and I ordered a ton. Has anyone used them before? Did you end up with stinky wax?
  4. Thanks, everyone! You gave me a lot of good points to mull over.
  5. Thanks, TallTayl! I love the presentation part of it. A burnt sugar note would be a nice way to tone down the scent of anise for those of us who are not fans of black licorice.
  6. Looking for suggestions on a good place to buy absinthe FO. A friend requested the scent and I'm not really sure what it's supposed to smell like. TIA
  7. I'm hoping they update their website. It looks exactly the same as when I first started ordering from them back in the 90s. :/
  8. I love that they give you a 1 ounce bottle with every 8 ounce bottle you order. I ordered 2 one pound bottles today plus the 2 sample bottles and only had to pay $5.80 for shipping, so I'm a happy camper.
  9. I found a source for RSPO sustainable palm wax but am wondering if potential customers will still read me the riot act anyways for using palm wax. I live in a very vocal, environmentally conscious town (which is one of the things I love about it), so I worry about people's reactions to using palm. Do any of you use palm wax and how do people react to your use of it?
  10. I use soy as well and pour at a cooler temp. I've heard some say that the skunk smell comes from pouring at a high temp, so maybe we're safe from that thanks to the soy. Woohoo!
  11. Fillmore clams are the thinner ones, right? Have you had any problems with them? I think the last batch of clamshells that I bought from a vendor came from Fillmore because they are very thin. I haven't had any problems yet with the dreaded skunk smell, but the oldest ones from that batch were poured in July.
  12. Has anyone used their clamshells? Their minimum order is very high, so I'm a little nervous placing that big of an order from someone I haven't heard much about.
