  1. My first question is , are your candles the only candles she sells???  What is going to stop her from selling another line??  Is she only selling home fragrance products from your line.

I never gave and exclusive,  of course I used my head,  I didn't sell to two stores across the street from each other, but in the same town,  yes.  It never seemed to cause a problem for me or the stores I sold to.  Why is it that she wants an exclusive?

I had two very high volume seasons,  beginning of summer and fall and holiday time.  I made 60 percent of my sales or better in those two seasons so for me, the more orders the better and they were always big.

My question to you is, are you afraid that if you don't offer an exclusive you will lose the account.  It just doesn't seem justified,  she just is not selling enough to ask you to put the success and finances of your business in one basket.

  2. I use both these waxes,  for me the sink hole issue with 6006 was huge,  I always remedy it with a heat gun.  I have not had sink hole issues with 130,  I am now pouring 8 oz masons.

What temp are you pouring at. I find that if I bunch the candles together it helps with slower cooling. I heat the wax to 180, pour at 160.  I thought I was having a throw problem with 130 , as was mentioned above, absolutely have someone else test.  Once I start pouring candles for the season, especially for fall with all the spices, my nose is shot.  I find the throw with 130 to be fine,  they do need a cure time however.

6006 has great throw but you have to be willing to do the work with the issues it presents.

  3. The 60's will probably work well with 6006 in that jar.  You will have to really test with this wax, it has a tendency to burn hot, my experience anyway.

I have also used the candlewic wax, it is a true one pour, with the 6006 I always had to use the heat gun on the tops,  I like both waxes however,  I found the 130 to burn a little cooler.

  4. Hi Tam, I do not currently wholesale votives.

When I did, I required they purchase at least a dozen of each scent ordered and at least 12 dozen minimum.

I packed them , two votives to a clear bag with a gold bow and a hang tag around them.

I charged 3 dollars per two pack at the time. That was about 5 years ago.

  5. I don't usually do home parties, a friend asked me to do one.

It started at 4, was over at 6:30.

I made Five hundred dollars. I was shocked.

I am now doing 8 oz masons, I charged 10 dollars each for them.

That is all I sold, along with soaps I brought. I did about 25 dollars in soap sales. I am taking soap off the line, only doing it for friends who already buy it at this point.

Biggest sellers were, Winter Wonderland, Aruba Coconut , Graham Cracker, Chrismas Tree, and Sweet Pumpkin Spice.

I sold so many candles one of my friends had to go back to my house and get more.

There were 10 people there, the hostess got 2 free candles, a wick trimmer, a couple of bars of soap, I gave her 50 percent off her first 50 dollars.

I figured I would do about 200 dollars in sales. And best of all, we all had a really good time. :)
