Lori, I like your pillar. Know what you mean about the colors. It was hard for me to visualize how they would look after the pillar was finished. I put drops on a white plate but it is so hard to see how the colors will contrast that way. Next effort I'm going to try for more light colored wax,

Thanks Sharyl. It was hard to visualize exactly, and I had the same thought as you - lighter colors with less contrast next time. I didn’t have as much frosting as I thought I should either (my mold is seamless aluminum too). Maybe I didn’t keep my mold cool enough... I kept a wet cloth wrapped around it, but it would heat up too.

After 100s of pillars, I sure hope mine look as good as judyvega's!

Nah, it doesn't have to sit overnight, it just needs to cool off enough that it slides out of the mold on it's own

Well... I almost hate to post my pictures after seeing the others - they're beautiful you guys!

I didn't get as much difference in the browns as I wanted; this is scented with Peak's French Vanilla & Amber. I smeared some of the color accidentally while pouring and got a few cracks and crevices here and there with not a whole lot of rustic. Overall, I'm okay with the way it turned out, and it was a really good learning experience.

I turned my mold 180 dgs, poured a 2nd layer. Hope that's right...

I've also got a cool wet rag wrapped on the mold to keep it cool.

IT's a little unstable here too (site that is).
