  1. btw, I've been scratchin' my head the last 2 days because I checked the burn rates for a few wicks I use and some of the bigger wicks are listed on the www.braidway.com site as having smaller melt pools. They seem to be named based on their rate of consumption, but that doesn't seem to always coincide directly with the size of the melt pool. I'm testing wicks right now and one wick that supposedly is several sizes above the one I'm currently using isn't achieving a full melt pool. Wicking gives me a headache sometimes. Christa
  2. I use a Performa 95 or 100 in my 16 oz canning jars.... I'm not sure why these don't get more exposure because I really like them in my KY125... and they are made by Atkins and Pearce, too. eta the jars I use are a little under 3". Christa
  3. I'll take a stab at it. I think the HTP 104's are too big for those jars. I'd probably try 83's . If the LX 16's work in the 16 oz jar and it's the same diameter, I'd burn the 10 oz again to see if it did better on the second burn, or try the LX 20's like you have in the jar behind it (is it the same diameter??). With the deeper jars, even though they are the same diameter, less heat is able to escape so a smaller wick isn't a bad idea & you'd have to use a bigger wick in a more shallow jar. The taper on the jelly jars drives me nuts. I think that HTP 105 will be fine and work even better as it gets down in the jar. Christa
  4. Thanks for sharing this... I would have never known because I use netscape most of the time and it doesn't work with it... it does with IE... I've been wondering what to try... I just searched here trying to find a soy review site for Just Scents and this thread popped up... :highfive: Christa
  5. Hello! I just discovered this message board about a day ago... and have spent lots of time reading... there is a lot of informative stuff here!! I'm a soy/natural wax candle maker who's mostly just hobbiest right now due to small children and time restraints . I am currently using KY125 with performa wicks, which I don't read of too many other people using in soy. I've had very good, consistent results with them. I also use powdered dyes. I also like the feather waxes. I've only had experience with Astor F but it looks like I'm going to have to find another source (I've been reading about adding stearic which I think it's going to help me get them out of the mold :highfive: ) I make soap, too, but the candles always go a lot faster, and I have people asking me for them all the time. Christa
