I use EL container and I add my FO at 175-180 and stir slowly and well. Then I let it sit until slushy and pour. I do have to let my candles have some cure time as well. I do wick test at 24-48 hours but I definitely get the best throw after 3-5 days or longer.

I am with Grumpy Girl....get one type of jar and test it out and then add more sizes etc. I made the mistake of trying to many sizes and scents all at once. Definitely recommined only purchasing sample size scents to test with and if they are a hit order more. I started off wrong an ordered # bottles to save money and now they are sitting on my shelf.

I have used EL oils and Candlesoylution...I may be wrong but I think their oils come from EL. I have had some that throw very well and others so-so just like any other company.

The 700 series rocks! I have totally switched to this series because I have been able to single wick all of my containers. The size ranges are great!

This is an awesome scent in soy! Just a FYI for all you soy chandlers!
-
I see it as well. I have embraced the wet spots and my customers don't mind either. All they care about is an awesome smelling and burning candle.

I bought my scale from http://www.oldwillknottscales.com/. I was very happy with CS and price. They have scales for fit every budget.

Most states have a secretary of state page and you can find out lots of information on businesses. I use it all the time at my day job!

Well, I got votives poured from all of the samples today. Now just to wait to test burn....tick, tick, tick...I can hardly stand the wait.
-
I have been dying my votives for some time but I am sick of the frosting from my wax. Just wondering how many of you go undyed on votives. I do color my containers and would still continue to color them.

I just poured that one and I like it so far. I also did Black Cherry Bomb...boy does my house smell now!

I posted here in the veggie section becasue I specifically wanted to hear from other soy users.

I want to try to use a little less than 6% but do not want to waste wax and oil by starting too low.
-
Could I please get a copy as well geek? Thanks so much! dlavalle@astound.net.

I just got my new oils today from NG. What % do most of you start at with 100% soy? I usually use 6% and tone down if need be. What are some of your experiences?
I got the following samples:
Tayberry & Teakwood
Harvest
Balsam
Black Cherry Bomb
Downy Morning Glory & Honeysuckle
Dowiny Water Lily & Jasmine
Fresh Cut Grass
Jack Frost
Misbehavin'
Satin Sheets
Mojito
Raspberry Zinger
Snow Angels
TIA!

This board is the best! If I had not found it I would still be producing some nasty nasty candles and doing things wrong. Everyone here is great!

What kind of palm wax is that ? Can I ask what supplier you got it from?
-
Thanks everyone for your input! I am a soy chandler so I know I will have to test some of your wonderful suggestions! How can they expect any woman to narrow down a list of 424 scents!!!! (Especially when I cannot decide what to eat or where to work)!
-
I am trying to place an order for some sample sizes at Nature's Garden and I am so overwhelmed. Everytime I think I have it narrow down to 10-20 I change my mind! What would your choices be if you could only choose 10 from NG? I am open to any type of FO suggestions!

I was just on their site and what to the letters behind the FO names mean? For example (ZB, etc)?

What wax are u using? I had a terrible time with the Ecosoya PB releasing from my wick pins. That's why it is being used for tarts! I even put mine in the freezer as well and they just would not release.
-
How are the votives coming with the wicks? I am making clams and was hoping to use all of the PB for them since I cannot get a good throw with a votive with this wax.
-
Does anyone use this PB for their clamshells? I have 30 lbs left and hate it for votives and pillars. I have a votive I am melting in my tart melter made from this was and the throw seems good. Just wanted to here from anyone that uses this wax for clams.
Thanks!
If by any chance (scent throw ?)

I do get candle nose quite often. I usually bring my candles to work to check for cold throw. One of my coworkers across our dept is kind enough to put it in area. 99% of the time I can smell that baby all the way over at my desk.
I have definitely found dud FO's over the course of the past few years of testing. Just need to test.
