  1. When I am not using a wick pin then I wick the mold and take a hot glue gun and glue all around the hole and the wick. I have never had an issue with leaking wax this way and I've been doing it this way for 2 yrs. Once the candle is done I just simply peel the glue away from the mold and wick. HTH

Can you tell me what kind of hot glue you use (is there a specific type). Also where did you get the glue gun (Michael's?). This sounds like a great idea, thanks for your help.

  2. I have added vybar 343 {think that's the correct number!} It is specially formulated for palm waxes and I use it to increase the amount of FO I can add to my candles. Oh, and also UVB inhibitor, because your purple type colors will quickly change on you! One of my testers ooohed and aaahed over my "cool" purple, blue, and pink palm pillar! I told him it was a mistake!

Does the 343 really work to increase the amount of FO so the scent throw is stronger?

  3. I agree! I, for one, would love to be experienced enough to be one of the "old maids" on here. I am very, very grateful that I found this message board and everyon is willing to help, even with some of our newbie stupid questions.

SO----Thanks to all and have a great Easter weekend!!!:yay:

I totally agree. I feel very fortunate at how much help and valuable information I've received. I do agree there is no substitute for actually experimenting. People have been so wonderful on this board. A lot of times I just come on here and read what people are asking and learn that way as well as doing searches. My mom would say "don't cut your nose off to spite your face". I think that is good advice. Thanks to all the wonderful people on here and have a wonderful Easter.

  4. I received the 8oz metro jar as well. I know what you mean by the bottom not having the 'lip'. Does the 12oz jar have the defined bottom?

I have the metro jars from Libbey and love them. I was hoping I could use fancyjars.com. I'm still on the fence:undecided

I think the Libbey jars are definitely nicer (the rim on the bottom of the 12 oz is a little more pronounced and it is a heavier jar). I'm still trying to decide what I want to do because the Libbey ones cost a bit more.

  5. Judy these are great. Will you be making 3 wick palm candles with your new molds? If so, let me know how they turn out because i haven't tried that yet!

I tried a metal mold on Sunday and it didn't work as well - I'm not sure if I will use the Palm wax for these or not, but if I do I'll let you know. I'm really having fun with the palm wax. So far I think the aluminum molds work better.

Thanks everyone for all your compliments!!!

  6. Here are a few candles I worked on today, some crystal palm pillars, crystal palm status jars and comfort blend square tapered jars. Let me know what you think? Thanks for looking.

P.S. The purple palm pillars are scented Mandarin Plum, the red palm pillar is Lookout Point, pink status jar is Pink Sugar and green status jar is Spiced Pear, blue square taper is Spring Rain and green square taper is Hot Baked Apple Pie.

I'm working on my website so trying to take pictures for that.

  7. Hi,,I use GE Silicone II for window and door treatment from Wal-Mart and it works GREAT!!! Within about 10 minutes after I put my wick in I heat my jars in the oven and they STAY!! It is in the paint section. I tried the hot glue and that didnt work,,I dont like the wickstickums. JMO

Do you know if they have this stuff at Ace Hardware? Walmart isn't really close to me and the whole world will be there today. TIA

  8. OK, here are 2 poured at 218 degrees with preheated molds. Just like the bigger ones. These are with Aluminimum molds which I think make all the difference.

Tin just doesn't cut it but Alum. gives nice feathering.

I asked you during the last post if you were using aluminum or metal? I've read that aluminum works the best, but when asking people have also said they did well with metal. This is very intersting. I didn't think you were supposed to heat hotter than 210 degrees - at least that is what the palm wax I'm using says????? I have been preheating my molds.
