I am OK with trying new vendors and having to do the work.I just fear buying from a total crap vendor and wasting time and money when I could have just asked someone if the supplier was bad. Lol but I guess it is true just because one person likes it does not mean I will
-
I am looking for an amazing pistachio, a great serendipity, a cotton candy that does not smell like smoke and ashtray(some really smell nasty to me), pink sugar, blue sugar, and anything sweet are yummy lol. I have tried all of these scents from a few suppliers but I just want to try more to be sure I am getting the best. I wish shipping on testers was not so high. then I could order a few from a few different vendors at a time lol. I am mostly focusing on Vday scents and st paddys day and easter scents and then the ones I mentioned already. But I want the best. lol.

I think I will be. Has anyone used crafters choice FO's wholesale supplies plus has a lot of their stuff but it is more spendy because of the no shipping I think. Is the product worth the money when you think that shipping is not an issue?
-
Thanks puma. I love trying new things. I really like yours. I think they turned out great. I over complicate things sometimes Lol. I will be trying a lower temp poured opposed to using the pipette and see how that works.

Thanks. I entry to try new vendors. I normally use NG, just scent, and Ah/Re. Am I missing a better vendor? I want strong good scents.

Thank you all very much. This is what I think I am understanding. Soy has a "cure " time of sorts for at least a week but paraffin my only need 48 hours. If I don't Hey much scent I will let it sit a few weeks and try again. So the candles at the store that lose scent after time is because of bad fragrance oil not what type of wax? Is that right?
-
Does Paraffin have a long cure time like soy Does? my parasoy blend(that I no longer use) took almost two months to cure I do wax melts. I keep hearing people say they poured a day or two before testing. everyone I know who dos a soy or parasoy says the need to wait at least 2 weeks but the longer the better. So I am confused. Is paraffin different? The candle I get in the stores get weaker not strong when I let them sit. Is that because they are paraffin?

Thanks puma I will

I need this. I make soap and wax melts and some if the scents when they first Hey mixed give me such a headache. Even scents I love. Also would be great when mixing lye. Where did you get it?
-
the green bottle was done the way I do mine and then added to the rest of the melt. but seeing how nice pumas are I may just try that and see if I can get the same shine with a lot less hassle thanks for the advice hun. It is so nice that everyone here is so kind and willing to share. I have been at other places where the people were cut throat and vindictive. and will to stab you in the back. you are such great people.

Thanks so much. With tarts it was just not an issue. I also make body care products and only sell that to family and friends but will be selling on my site soon, so I think I will get it for that too. It never even crossed my mind. I feel so silly.

ok so a very good point was brought up. The need for insurance. up til now I only make melts for sell and candles are just for me but I do want to sell them at some point. So where do I even go to get insurance and how much is it?

I know I am late coming into this, but I just saw it. I totally agree with you and it angers me to see America pimping their GMO soy so much. It is just as bad for people and maybe more so because of soy allergies and the fact that GMO's are increasing the level of allergies people are having. Also it is bad the the eco system. ALL of the 4 main (as far as I know only) Soy wax companies use GMO soy. 98% of US soy is either directly GMO or created using a strain of GMO. The other 2% is saved for baby formula or grown in small amounts by small farms for local sell or self use. It is NOT a renewable or sustainable resource. ALL Organic matters create some carbon when burning so that is an outright LIE. Also telling people to make sure it says SOY wax or Bees wax is just leading them to false security because there are NO regulations on labeling candles in America and if you have more then I think it is 20% soy you can label it a soy candle and leave out the fact that you use any other wax. Also the fragrance oils should have an MSDS with them. If the company wont provide it go to someone else. The MSDS is very helpful in telling if and what toxic chemicals it has. They also tell you what amounts are same in all products that come in to contact with skin. They do not limit the amount you can use in a candle. The MSDS and IFRA are very strict. If it passes with them it is safe. So this is just our american government trying to frighten people into using soy. That is my two cents. lol And FYI I use both soy and paraffin in my candles and bees wax in my body care. I know nothing is perfect. I just hate when they lie to make something look better when in truth it is really not. the only wax I wont use is palm because I can not find rainforest friendly wax and I don't see how a neat wax effect is worth destroying a whole rainforest.

thank you Karen

thank you so much for all the help and advice everyone. Wax is so much harder to get right when it comes to scent then body care is lol. I am use to body care. I just always follow the MSDS rules because I have out of country customers and the laws in Europe are strict for body care. but candles are so much more confusing. thank you all for the patience when dealing with us newbies.

I was thinking of trying these from ICS
Cherry Vanilla Swirl
Lemon Meringue
Luscious Vanilla
Cream Cheese Frosting
Coffee Bean
Vanilla Hazelnut Coffee
Birthday Cake
Cotton Candy
Pink Sugar Type
Chocolate Covered Cherries
Caramel Latte
Toasted Marshmallow
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Dulce de Leche aka Sugar Milk
Serendipity
Has anyone tried any of these scents? Were they strong and were they good?

I am doing a paraffin and also a parasoy blend both melts and containers. I am looking for a good Fragrance oil supplier. I normally make soap and body care and am pretty new to wax only been at it for about 4 months. I have found that a lot of the places I got oils for my body care don't seem to work as well in wax so I need to find better suppliers for wax. Any suggestions?
-
ok thank you so much. I wanted to use around 8% so it is good to know. the other waxes I am using have a scent load of 12% and I wont need to use that much all the time but I do have a few scents that I love but are just super light and I really want to use more for those. if it is mixed with something that can hold 12% and I am just making tarts and the 4625 is used at less then 15% of the whole wax blend do you think I could manage 10% possible? I just really like a strong throw because I have an almost 500sqft living area. it makes it hard to scent the whole thing.
-
I know what peak says but I have noticed that peak has a lower number for scent load then IGI says. Like the 4627 peak says only 10% and IGI says it can hold 12%. So I was wondering how other people are able to push the load on 4625
-
lol it is all good. So what kind of scent load can you get with the 4625? the others are 10% to 12 % but I can't find the scent load on the IGI website for the 4625 like I could for the others.
-
What type is 4624 and where can I did it?
-
Did you ever find an answer to this? I use glitter all the time on my molded tarts. I put a good coating of glitter in the mold then I use disposable plastic pipettes and slowly pipe a layer of wax in the bottom of the mold so it does not move the glitter into the wax then I slowly pour the rest of the wax. you either need to move fast to do this or risk the unpoured wax cooling to fast. I normally mix a small batch of wax with a proportionate amount of FO then pipe it. then I mix the rest of the wax and FO and pour. That gives me more time to make sure things look good and still not have to lose scent in rewarming. It takes a bit more work and time but it is worth it to have a beautiful tart. Also I mix in color as well lol
-
So does the 4625 have those issues like the other waxes I have tried? Also does it have good scent throw?
What are the best FO suppliers? Is ICS any good?
