  1. I added FO, it clearly made a difference. It's mottling wax so has all the additives to make it mottle so didn't think i needed FO for it to work, clearly I do.
  2. I bought some mottling wax and the first attempt at using it was a big fail. I tried again and this time they turned out great, at least i think so anyway.
  3. fantastic interpretation of the elements, i love them.
  4. I don't mind adding scent but thought for the first try with a mottling wax i wouldn't add any. Because it's a mottling wax though i shouldn't really need to add mineral oil should i? I thought that a mottling wax already had all of the additives it needed to make it mottle, otherwise it would just be wax, not mottling wax.
  5. Thans bsones i'll give it a go adding fo to it
  6. i'm using chandler grey mottling wax, i'm in the uk so can't get a lot of waxes
  7. @georgia I warm my molds in the oven first so it helps to cool slower but clearly i cant get them to cool slow enough. It's cold here at the minute, being the end of November but the heating is always on and the house is warm. I suppose i could leave the molds in the oven a bit longer but as they are metal i can't get them too hot otherwise i cant touch them lol. I'm starting to think mottling wax is a waste of time and money.
  8. Thaiphoon have you tried 4candles, they are one of the best for prices. The dip and carve wax is £17.4 for 5kg or £57.99 for 20kg, you do need to add VAT to that though
  9. Kaczor I can't pour low temp as it won't mottle, nor can i add vybar as it will stop the mottling. I make rustic candles anyway but this is a wax specifically for mottling and it hasn't mottled.
  10. I bought some mottling wax to give it a try and followed the instructions down to the T. I heated to 80 degrees celcius, added the midnight blue colour, I didn't add scent, and i poured at 80 like the instructions said. I let it cool at room temp, so considering it's cold in the UK, the heating is on so it is warm in the house but these are how they turned out. Can anyone suggest how to get a full/better mottle with this wax next time? Please help, im about to pull my hair out.
  11. Try 4candles.co.uk i use them for all of my supplies
  12. The likelihood with this person is they won't post pictures of failures. If they look ok they will sell them, it won't be until someone sues her that they realised they screwed up. I've had the same problem today with a friend, he's just out of rehab and needs a hobby so wants to do candles, I told him to research etc but everyone else posting was saying it's easy, they do it with their 3 year old kids so candle making is not hard. I give up with some people, i honestly do.
  13. Thanks ChrisR, i'll have to order some more colouring next month so will wait and get some more wick.
  14. I've got a load of beeswax that I want to use in candles but because of the price I don't want to waste it. Ideally I'd like to do some votives but I don't know what size wick to use. I have only got LX wicks, from 8 to 22 so ideally i'd like to use that rather than buy more. With my paraffin votives I can use an LX8, and I assume with beeswax I would have to wick up, but to what size? Can anyone help me please.
  15. Well i can tell you now i need to wick up, i didnt get a full melt pool, not even close. I had a 1cm edge all the way around.
