  1. Hi, I am lurking in the soap section. I do not make soap but I have used m&p, my question is can you use the clay in m&p to help with oily skin? Would it be best to just buy soap that has clay in it? Like hp or cp. Thanks, Connie
  2. You should check out Target's $ section every once in a while they change the stuff in there about every few months and I always seem to find great stuff. If you ask when they are going to get there shipments in you may be able to find those silicone ice cube trays in the shape of hearts, someone here said they use those to make tarts, but at my house the kids use the heart ice cubes they think there great! Connie
  3. When I worked for Home Interior I would print lables with my name and phone number on them and stick them to the bottem of the candle. It worked great and they could call me and reorder. HTH, Connie
  4. Hi, I have bought glass like that before, and you need to be a little careful they can brake easily. HTH
  5. I am going to put my order in on Mon. Grape 2000! It is for valentine's day for my DH! He loves grape. I have another question though do their wicks come primed and tabed? I could not find the info on the site and I am going to test the CD's in my stubborn wax. "I live about 4 minutes from their show room. Too convenient! I was there almost every day the month of December." I would be in big trouble if I lived too close, I am thankful I live in in Vancouver, Wa not much like that around here unless you drove the 3 hrs to Seattle. Thanks so much you guys, Connie
  6. Thank you for your help babyrn, I'm excited to order from them.
  7. Has anyone orded from them? Here is the link. http://www.tayloredconcepts.com/index.htm I was looking at their grape jelly FO and some other things. Thanks for your help, Connie
  8. I have tested this wax with hemp core wicks, my results with the medium hemp core was that I did not get a full melt pool after 4hrs burn. I used no sent or additives. I am going to try again today with the large and see what my results are. I am expecting a dilivery of LW wicks, and paper core wicks. I will let you know my results as soon as I get them. HTH :undecided Connie
  9. I have a friend who bought a 3 wick candle and put it on her coffee table. Her white long hair cat was up there one day and turned around. The cat's tail caught on fire, luckily she was nearby and put it out. It just goes to show you, you can't be too careful. Connie
  10. Thank you all for your reply. I guess my question was which FO's give you problems. I realize I need to test everything but being new to this I did not realize peppermint and vanilla were prone to have problems. Does BCN hot apple pie give anyone fits? I would like to restart with a FO that is easier to deal with. I plan on working with the peppermint sented wax I have, but I am giving it a brake for now. Thanks again, Connie
  11. Here is the archive link. You can also search in here. http://www.candletech.com/cgi-local/yabb/YaBB.cgi Connie
  12. Hi, I am also new to candle making, and I would not suggest using pourpori sents in candle wax. I am not sure what the chemical reaction would be. Also when I see pourpori oil on a web site with candle supplies it is always in a different area. Your best bet would be to do a search and see if you can find anything. Sorry I could not be more help. Connie
  13. Hi, I am new at this as some of you know. I made some container candles, 4oz wide mouth jj. In my first batch I used 1 lb of wax IGI 6006Ato 1.5 oz peppermint FO. I realize now that was too much FO for that amount of wax. Since then I have added another lb of wax ( at least I believe that is how much more I have added ) and 1/4 oz of vanilla FO. My problem is when I test burn I still get a fule smell. I am setting the wax aside for now, and I am thinking of starting over and just trying the vanilla FO, but I would like to hear from the experts and see which FO's You wonderful people:D start with to test a new wax. Thank you so much for your help, Connie
  14. Thanks again you guy. Guess I got alittle excited I am going to remelt and add some wax, I think about 1/2 pound that will make it about 1oz per pound. I'll let you guys know how they turn out. Thanks again, Connie
  15. No, it is not a weak peppermint it is just my first candle. :DI have gone too long paying too much money on weak candles that you can only smell if you stand right over them. My friend and I wanted to be able to smell the candle in atleast the front room and boy can you when it is on the candle warmer. My eyes were watering because I was sitting too close lol. It was when I was test burning them that they smelled funny. Quote "emitting a fuel smell when burning." My DH said it smelled kerosene. When I tested the 100% hemp core the burn was too low ( the wick is suggested for votives ) but no smell. I even tested it for an hour. So I uped the wick, I let this one burn about an hour also, I could not smell the peppermint but smelled the funny smell. It is not strong smell but over powers the peppermint. Like it counteracts the FO. The fact that it is my first candle I thought maybe the hemp wick was the cause. Anyway thanks for any help you can give me, Connie
  16. I poured 8 oz wide mouth jelly jars with IGI 6006A, I used 1.5 oz peppermint FO to 1 lb of wax. The cold throw is great and as a wickless candle I love the hot throw. But when I tested the 6" med hemp core and even more so with the 6" large hemp core wick it smelled funny. DH and DS both agree so I know I'm not smelling things. Does the hemp wick interact with the sent in candles? It makes sense but it sure is frustrating. The reason I tryed hemp is because it was recommended somewere but who knows were. I have read that cotten wicks are used in this wax. Please give me some advice were to go from here. Thanks again, Connie
  17. Some day I will be that cool! Thanks for sharing,Connie
  18. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! I will defiantly start wiping out my pot as soon as I pour. I will also look into investing in a paper towel company. I also found some lids that fit my FO bottles with a flip spout, so I will try that with my next batch. Thanks again, Connie
  19. Ok, well last night I poured my first candles ever. I am so excited to test them, but my question is how do you clean you pouring pot? I used hot water and soap but I was afraid the soap would contaminate the pouring pot. I have heard soap can contaminate coffee pots and make them taste like soap so I was just wondering. Also how do you pour your FO from the original bottle that it came into the container you are using to measure then add to the wax. When I poured the FO into you container that was on my scale I ended up with FO all over my counter that is why I'm asking. Hope this makes sense. Thank you in advanced, Connie
  20. Thank you all so much for your help! I planned on getting the supplies at BC, craft store candle supplies kinda scare me. I will defiantly check the threds about which molds to use. Thank you all again, Connie P.S. I plan on making my first candle today IGI 6006A in 8 oz canning jars.
  21. Can someone please get me started. I am buying a Seamless Aluminum 3x3.5 Pillar mold and I'm hoping to find a package of sample wicks for my sister-in-law for christmas to get her started. I hope that is enough info. Any help would be great. Thank you, Connie
