  1. Have you decided on a host yet? I'm having Yahoo host my site and they have a great program for do-it-yourselfer's that you can use off line. That's what I'm in the process of doing. The basice hosting fee is about $30/mo. which includes a full e-commerce site & merchant tools.

  2. Hey thanks everyone. I'm finding that I like a lot of the sites that were suggested better than some of the ones I had been looking at before. Some of them have good shipping deals with bulk orders, and since that is what I am probably going to do, it will work in my favor even from a distance. Thanks again...and I hope if more people have suggestions, that they post those also. I'm getting so excited to get started!!!!!

Bulk orders are absolutely the way to go once you figure out what you're going to be using. I would suggest trying smaller orders of different waxes first. It might cost a little more per pound at first but I'd rather be stuck with a 10# slab of wax that I didn't like than a full 50-60# case. I tried 4 different waxes before I settled on one and that was lucky. Some people on this board have gone through many more than that. I only do container candles so far but once I decide to go into pillars and votives, I'll be going through the whole process again.

    Good luck to you.

  3. Like Heather said, try to find the heavy stuff like wax near you. If you can pick it up, all the better. Wax, wicks, containers and other accessories will all be pretty comparable wherever you get them so price and shipping should be the main considerations. When it comes to FO, quality is the main concern. Everyone on this board will have their favorite suppliers and the list will become long. My personal preference is Just Scent followed by Peak.

Also remember that what works for some people doesn't always mean it will work for you with your combination of wax, wick & FO.

    IMHO

  4. Hello, I'm new and just reading through questions and answers to see if I can find any answers to my questions. Hope you don't mind.

Don't hesitate to ask questions either. There are no stupid questions, just stupid people who ask them.:D

  5. I have to recommend Photoshop Elements to do the graphic work. It's not expensive and it does everything you could want. As far as printing the labels, I use Avery's Design Pro 5. It's free here http://avery.com/us/Main?action=software.AverySoftwareDetail&catalogcode=WEB01&softwarecode=3200 and you can customize the labels as much as you want. For the labels themselves, I recommend www.planetlabel.com. They have a huge variety of shapes and sizes and great quality. Thier site is very easy to navigate too.

  6. Maybe also, you can put your phone number or city, state on the warning label on the bottom of the jar instead of having them on top of each other

I looked into Federal laws concerning labels and found out that the net weight and contact information has to be on the "primary label." Also, the net wt. needs to be a certain size depending on the size (or area) of the label. And, it needs to be separated by a certain distance from any other text depending on the size of the font required.

The FULL address is required if the company is not listed in a phone directory.

It's alot of boring legalese to read but here's the link:

  7. Same thing goes for containers.

Some waxes claim to be "single pour" but that's only under ideal circumstances. What that really means is that the wax will shrink less than if it weren't single pour. It's just something you'll have to learn to live with. Just remember that it's important (for pillars and containers) to poke relief holes. The candle can develop air pockets that you may not see. Also, when you do your re-pour, only pour to the lip of the first pour or you will see a seam if you pour too high.

  8. You'd be helpful too if someone were ordering $300 worth of product from you.

Becky IS great though. She's helping me with a discounted price on 12 bottles of Ultimate Vanilla for a candle fundraiser, It's to benefit the fight against breast cancer that my wife is involved in.

I will be posting more information about this soon.

  9. I also LOVE this wax. I cant wick anything bigger then a 8oz jar but hey thats Ok with me. My customers love my candles. They say the scent drifts through their house!:yay:

I am testing some soy but i will continue to carry my comfort blend aswell. Love It!:)

This is the only wax I use too. I've tried J50, J223 and WSP's Crafters Choice. This wax gives me the most vibrant colors and the hot/cold throw is out of this world. The vast majority of my FO's come from JS and a few from Peak and LS. I actually find it pretty easy to wick using CD wicks in 16oz mason jars. They mushroom some but very little, if any, soot.

  10. .

I think it looks great, although I agree with the centering of Soy Wax Melts, but I don't think that this is the right spelling of dreamsickle either. I thought the way she had it spelled looked right, so I did a google search putting in Dreamsickle and it asked if I meant Dreamsicle. There were results for it with the K but more with out the K. Soooooo at that I think it would be a personal choice as to how she wants it spelled.

Actually, I spell mine "Orange Vanilla.":p
