I've read about temperature changes during the seasons causing candles to burn different.

If you look REAL close, you can see little bits of it at the bottom, keep stirring well after you see them disappear. Add color after that...
-
Those are gorgeous! What were you hoping for?
-
Don't give up!
I poured these at 150, every single layer. And swooshed the wax around to the top of the mold with every layer. If that helps...
-
That's pretty cool!

Thanks!
They do look good. The outer two, that were poured in a seamless mold, look like some of the rustic finish stuck in the mold.
The molds were pretty clean when I pulled them out, just a teeny tiny bit of stuff. Not nearly enough for it to cause the candle to be naked.

I read that IGI 4625 wasn't good for rustics, but I tried it anyway. The 3 here are from the same batch of wax. I just added more dye for the third. (I miscalculated the amount I needed, so had enough for a third one.) These were all poured at the same temp. The outside two were in my new seamless aluminum molds and they didn't get the rustic look. The one in the middle was with my cheap hobby lobby tin mold. Just from the looks of it, I'd say this wax can make a rustic if you use a cheap thin tin mold... lol

I think those are the most beautiful container candles I've ever seen!

Went to Big Lots today and noticed they are starting to put out their Fall items - nothing for candles yet though ... BUT ... I took a gander over by the glassware and found these wonderful ceramic take out boxes! Poured one today and am burning it now - seems as though I might need 3 or 4 wicks because of the large top. Anyway - thought I'd share. Bought for $3.00 - should be able to sell for $20! It holds about 2lbs of soy! They had 18 on the shelf and I'm seriously thinking of going back and grabbing them all! There are about 3 different sayings ...happiness, dreams, peaceful ...
The tin is something I've been having and just decided to fill w/soy also ...

Something you said tipped me off as to where you are, then I looked up and saw Bayouland.... what part? I'm in Bayouland also!
Cute containers!

I usually don't burn much at home, cause I can't smell anything there. But I've taken votives to work to burn the next day and they usually scent my office pretty well.

I'm pretty sure they're air bubbles. I can push on them and some of them give. You can see the bumps and feel them when you run your finger across them. I don't like them, they remind me of pimples! Or blisters, as Top said. I got some IGI 4625 pillar wax in, so I'm going to see if that happens to them too. I put the UA in because I read somewhere it ups the FO load in the 1274, so I probably won't use it for this other wax.
I have a bit of 1274 left, so I'll try it without the UA to see what happens...
Thanks for the replies!

I love that!

What on Earth is this? They weren't like that straight from the mold, they've developed over the past couple of weeks....??? IGI 1274 with a bit of UA. They were poured between 145-150... Any ideas? I forgot my aluminum hat.

The only time I've ever seen a candle splatter was when my husband blew it out too hard. He moved some AIR when he blew it out, and oops hot red wax all over the counter and the mirror behind it. Someone may have done that and just not told anyone... I agree with the offer of a replacement after she returns it..

What kind of wax?

Beautiful!!!

They're beautiful! I love purple!

NP. That's just why I thought it was the bottom. Wasn't here to cause any problems. And I haven't seen what a candle looks like when the wick pin is inside
Didn't think ya were trying to cause problems lol
-
Yup, these are addicting. Can't wait until my new molds come in! This one is scented Jasmine.
Thanks for looking!

Very pretty colors! I still think it looks great! Thats one of my biggest problems too, I'm so anxious to see the outcome that I wind up ruining the candle. Are you using a mold with a seam?? It's a good thing to invest in some seamless molds with rustics because when you try to shave away the seam line it messes up the look. The burn looks good on the purple..Keep the candles coming!
Thanks! Yup, it's the el-cheap-o mold from Yaley. Seamed. I've got a few seamless on order, hopefully they'll be here soon!

Thanks! I'm sure you're right, hours instead of minutes LOL. I've got a green one cooling now, but not gonna touch it until tomorrow morning!
-
I pulled this one from the mold too early, as you can clearly see! I lost quite a bit of frost, should have waited just a few more agonizing minutes...
And here's 3 hours into the first burn. Three hours into the third burn of the brown one. Think this may be the right wick.... Scented China Rain

Yes, I have a hard enough time sealing the mold without having to worry about the base being outside the mold. And getting it to stand straight. It's just easier, and if I get good enough to give away or sell them, I'll fix the tops so they're a bit prettier.

Don't have a clue if it would do anything, but can you put "perishable: keep cool" on the box? Would anyone read it or do anything about it?
