  1. I am using soy from MC with orange clove F/O. The container is 4 1/2 inch in dia. I am double wicking with 44c's, 51c's, 60c's and now 2 htp's 126. It starts to do ok but then the wick is drowning out. Any suggestions. The weather here is real cold -16 this morning with out the wind chill. Would that have anything to do with it. Thanks Christi
  2. I know that I am a newbie on here, but you know that little package of stuff you get when you buy new shoes or something. It always say's Do not Eat. You could use some of those when storing your molds. That's what they are for the moisture. It's called "Silica Gel". Hope this helps. Christi
  3. I am using the natural pillar/votive wax from MC. Thanks Christi
  4. Happy Thanksgiving Everybody. I am making 3 inch pillars from this wax with Apple Jack & Peel F/O. I started with a htp 126 in one and a htp 105 in the other. They both burned really good. The flame was a little big on the htp 126. I let them burn from 7:30 am to 1:15 pm. That's when the 126 had a blow out. The edges were soft on the 105. I know that I burned them to long but wanted to see what they did. During the holidays people tend to burn candles longer. Don't you think? Well any way the question is this. Do I stay with the 105 or the 126? Or is there something in between these 2 wicks that might work better? I have cotton core wicks on hand. Thought maybe the 51. Thanks for any suggestions. Christi
  5. Thanks for all the little tips. I think I am having more luck with the cotton core wicks then I am the HTP's. I did a test on Nutty Spiced Vanilla yesterday and that just smells so awesome. Christi
  6. Newbie here, I have been reading and reading this forum. So many good tips. I have a couple of questions though. Will cotton core and HTP always mushroom. And what causes that? I have bought my soy from Millcreek and also the wicks. I have been testing the 8 oz. tins and also the 8 oz. square mason jars, I think I have the 4 and 8 oz jellie jars down pretty good. Do I need to switch to a different wick? Just courious. I live in Wyoming and doesn't the different regions take different wicks? Lots of goofy questions and I am sorry about that. I love making candles and my house smells so good. Also how long do you need to let a candle cure? Thanks for any help. Christi
  7. I just wanted to drop a line and say hello. I am very new to candle making. I wanted to just make tarts and votives, but a friend talked me into doing soy containers. I haven't had a chance to play much, but I am getting there. But I do have a few questions. First, I was reading about tarts and some of you are mixing soy and paraffin, does that help with the scent throw? I have 4625 pillar wax from BCN and soy wax from MC, can I really mix those two, and do you do like a 50/50 or 75/25, 25 being the soy. And you really do 1.5 oz of F/O for tarts and it doesn't burst into flames. lol Boy do I have a lot to learn. Thanks Christi
