  1. I had posted & asked if anyone made these type of candles

    demi-replacement.jpg

Just making for my own enjoyment! Well I gave it a try. I used Apples & Oak fo at 5% in both my gel & my regular wax. Z51. Put in a small mouth 1/2 pint square mason jar.

They turned out really pretty. So pretty when burning! Burn nicely (no smoke & very little mushrooming) but the hot throw is very, very weak & has a bit of fuel oil smell.

I generally use 8%-10% fo in my regular wax but someone had said to use the suggested % for gel in both. I am really disappointed in the throw. Would a larger wick help at all? Appreciate any suggestions.

  2. Primal Elements has patents on most if not all of their candle processes. It my not be wise to make chunk gel with a wax over pour.

Primal Elements’ candle products are protected by one or more of the following United State Letters Patents – 5,879,694, 6,033,210, 6,068,472, 6,171,101, 6,171,102, 6,210,153B1, 6,214,295,B1, D424,719, D425,636, D436,866, and D439,684. Other U.S. and foreign patents pending.

Just plug the patent # into here to find more info http://patft.uspto.gov/netahtml/PTO/srchnum.htm

Here is the basic meaning of patent # 6,033,210 - The present invention generally relates to decorative candles and more particularly to a decorative candle having uniquely shaped, integral gel components suspended within the candle by a petrolatum and paraffin mixture.

Just want to play...not sell but thanks for the warning.

  3. Check the FO you have if they have a FP over 175 then do a polarity test on them you might be surprised how many you have that are gel safe.

    Vicky,

Thanks for telling me that. I will definetly check them & keep fingers crossed that I have some usable ones!

These are made by Primal Elements. Was wondering if anyone makes something like them & where to begin?

Also where do they find all those good scents that are gel safe? I do J223 candles (mostly bakery scents) & none of the fo's I have are listed as gel safe. I buy most of my fo's from BCS & WSP. Bums me out that I have all these great fo's & can't play with the gel!

    Happy New Year,

  5. Here's some info on panthenol for you. I don't believe it would affect the feel of the balm but it may be helpful for chapped lips.

Commonly called "ProVitamin B5" or "Pantothenic Acid", panthenol is an additive no hair care product should be without. It's strengthening properties are well-known and widely used in professional hair care formulations. This white, free-flowing powder is water soluble and readily dissolves in cold or hot water. When used in skin care at rates of 1-2%, panthenol will effectively reduce irritation and reduce redness. Excellent for after-sun care or tanning lotions

  6. Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a match for WSP's Cinnabun. I tried NG, but it is not the same. I love WSP's Cinnabun, but they raised it to $27 for 16oz. I am tired of her price increases. I can't stand it. I need to match it because I use it in my fundraisers, but I won't pay $27.00. Just because Debbie bought a new building, doesn't mean we should all have to absorb the cost.

Anyhow, my question is ... is there someone who has a exact dupe of WSP cinnabun. Thanks!

It's still on the website under the LowPrice $15.25 category. Are there two maybe?

  7. I make "concave" top pillars because my "molds" are soda/beer cans. I fill the area after wicking them. I wick after pouring by drilling the candle rather than using pins. Wicking before pouring causes trouble because of wax shrinkage.

I've wanted to try pillars but haven't had the extra $s for molds...cans I have! :D But what do you mean that you fill the area in after wicking?

  8. Hi all- I currently use 44-32-18Z wicks with igi 6006 in 8 oz. containers. I recently moved to Boston, and have a couple questions.

    1. What causes the wick to mushroom? Are there other wicks i could be using that wouldn't smoke or mushroom as much?

    2. How is everyone liking Peaks new container waxes? Any reviews anyone would like to share?

    3. Does anyone live on the East Coast and do they have a reputable wax carrier they use? I hate to pay in shipping what I am paying in wax since I live far from Colorado.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I found the cd wicks worked better for me in the 6006. Usually cd10 or 12.

  9. I have several different silicone molds & most of them turn out ok but I have two pumpkin molds...one from flexiblemolds & one from candles&supplies. Both do that frosting thing. I have tried cleaning, heating the mold, pouring hot, medium & cool. Cooling slow, cooling fast & nothing helps much. 185 seems to be a good temp...sometimes! I'm wondering if it isn't something to do with what the original object was that the mold was made from? btw...my two pumpkin molds are of different materials...one blue silicone & one yellow...so that doesn't matter! Wish I knew the answer too. Maybe someone will come along with one!

  10. I use LX wicks in J223 and get great results. Very little sooting and nice even burn.

I've been testing the LXs with J223 & they are my favorite wick but...

I seem to have trouble with them when I use dark colors and/or spicey fo with the flame getting weak half way down the jar.

For instance cinnamon bun, lt tan color burns great with a LX16. Apple Pie & Harvest (one burgandy, one rust orange) I went up to an LX 22 & it still gets weak! Have you had any trouble with this?

  11. If you want to have a dry scrub, I really like something like a bath tea.

Dried Milk (is wonderful as a mask)

with ground oatmeal, ground lavender & ground calendula

Simply add a little water. I've used this as a full body mask too. Want a little more scrubby? Just add in some ground luffah or ground apricot seed/kernels.

A dry product is nice, simply because of the additive issues.

Thanks. Will have to give this one a try.
