  1. Thanks all for the suggestions. Gives me some ideas to try for the next ones! Julie
  2. I had posted & asked if anyone made these type of candles Just making for my own enjoyment! Well I gave it a try. I used Apples & Oak fo at 5% in both my gel & my regular wax. Z51. Put in a small mouth 1/2 pint square mason jar. They turned out really pretty. So pretty when burning! Burn nicely (no smoke & very little mushrooming) but the hot throw is very, very weak & has a bit of fuel oil smell. I generally use 8%-10% fo in my regular wax but someone had said to use the suggested % for gel in both. I am really disappointed in the throw. Would a larger wick help at all? Appreciate any suggestions. Julie
  3. Just want to play...not sell but thanks for the warning. Julie
  4. Vicky, Thanks for telling me that. I will definetly check them & keep fingers crossed that I have some usable ones! Julie
  5. Thanks! Just hate the thought of having to buy new ones but I would love to try those candles!
  6. These are made by Primal Elements. Was wondering if anyone makes something like them & where to begin? Also where do they find all those good scents that are gel safe? I do J223 candles (mostly bakery scents) & none of the fo's I have are listed as gel safe. I buy most of my fo's from BCS & WSP. Bums me out that I have all these great fo's & can't play with the gel! Happy New Year, Julie
  7. Wow! Thanks for the wonderful tutorials! Have admired your candles for quite some time...specially the orbs. Now I can try them myself! Julie
  8. I've wondered about that too...how does bbw get their things so strong & long lasting? Do they just break the usage rule of thumb or what? Julie
  9. Here's some info on panthenol for you. I don't believe it would affect the feel of the balm but it may be helpful for chapped lips. Commonly called "ProVitamin B5" or "Pantothenic Acid", panthenol is an additive no hair care product should be without. It's strengthening properties are well-known and widely used in professional hair care formulations. This white, free-flowing powder is water soluble and readily dissolves in cold or hot water. When used in skin care at rates of 1-2%, panthenol will effectively reduce irritation and reduce redness. Excellent for after-sun care or tanning lotions hth Julie
  10. :rolleyes2 Well I'm a smoker too but that gives that nasty brown, yellow color...this is pure black! Thought I finally had it together. Grrrr! Thanks for the reply...I'm off to read your links. Julie
  11. Here's a great place. Good quality products. http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/soap/Herbs.asp Julie
  12. Nobody else has had a problem like this?
  13. Wick stickums for me too! I get them either at bcn or candlesandsupplies. I wipe the bottom of my jar with alcohol (or wash them) stick my wick to my tab then put into my warmed jar. Then I push it down around the metal tab with a pen point! Never a problem anymore. Julie
  14. Hi, Several months ago I switched to J223. Thought I had everything working well...good scent throw, no smoking etc. Started doing some early spring cleaning & I've got black soot on my walls! Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks. Julie
  15. It's still on the website under the LowPrice $15.25 category. Are there two maybe? Julie
  16. Thanks! You made my day!!!! I just hate all that leftover wax to deal with.
  17. I have several new fo's to test. I use 8oz square mason jars. Would it be really wrong to only fill half way & then test burn? I have soooo many half filled jars of wax I hate adding more to the stash! tia Julie
  18. I've wanted to try pillars but haven't had the extra $s for molds...cans I have! But what do you mean that you fill the area in after wicking? Julie
  19. Hi,I found the cd wicks worked better for me in the 6006. Usually cd10 or 12. Julie
  20. I have several different silicone molds & most of them turn out ok but I have two pumpkin molds...one from flexiblemolds & one from candles&supplies. Both do that frosting thing. I have tried cleaning, heating the mold, pouring hot, medium & cool. Cooling slow, cooling fast & nothing helps much. 185 seems to be a good temp...sometimes! I'm wondering if it isn't something to do with what the original object was that the mold was made from? btw...my two pumpkin molds are of different materials...one blue silicone & one yellow...so that doesn't matter! Wish I knew the answer too. Maybe someone will come along with one! Julie
  21. I've been testing the LXs with J223 & they are my favorite wick but... I seem to have trouble with them when I use dark colors and/or spicey fo with the flame getting weak half way down the jar. For instance cinnamon bun, lt tan color burns great with a LX16. Apple Pie & Harvest (one burgandy, one rust orange) I went up to an LX 22 & it still gets weak! Have you had any trouble with this? Julie
  22. Hi, I used the 6006 for about a year...just recently switched to J223 but I found the CD wicks to work best for me. Mostly cd10 & 12 sometimes a cd14 for real tuffies. hth, Julie
  23. Thanks. Will have to give this one a try. Julie
