For containers?
I am going to bve passing by there next week and was just wondering if htis was a really good wax.
It sure would beat having to pay shipping!
I am still going to get an 11 lb slab just to play around with but just wanted to ask here, too.
Thanks,

I was at wal mart and saw some of those red silicone molds. There was amini muffin one, ohhhh,i came *this* close to getting it because it was big and would've made alot of tarts at the same time!
I think they were about 10 bucks.
Right now,I have those little metal mini mufifn pans that only make about 9.

Fern, My hubby has one from Wal-Mart and he loves it. Checked with him and he said the counter doesn't feel hot. I went back to Wal-Mart last this week to buy a few for the house and of course couldn't find them. Wal-Mart here is notorious for moving stuff around and no one seems to be able to tell you where they are. I looked everywhere and couldn't find any. My hubby "thinks" that they were around 5-6 dollars.
Hi that's where I got mine at,it was 4.90-something.
I was there again yesterday and they had alot of them.
Since I am going to give these as Christmas gifts maybe I should go buy some up in case they run out.

I've seen warmers at Wally World...does anyone know if they are any good?
Hi
I just got one of these the other day and it seems to be working pretty well but this is the first time for me using them too so......
The tile idea was a great one!

I would be the opposite. I wish I had the nerve to try and make soap.
Oh hun, believe me,if you can make a good candle you CAN make great soap!
Is it the lye that scares you?

I think that's how most all of us were with weighing wax to begin with.
We're pretty much conditioned by everyday life, to me it seems anyway. It's like if you ask someone to pick you up a bottle of coke at the store. They ask what size ya want.. and you respond 16 oz, 20 oz, whatever. We just don't say fluid ounces in general. It's really not necessary to specify, because the coke is only going to come in fluid oz. There's not many things out there, that I know of anyway, that can be fluid and solid that we would need the measurments for on a regular basis.
Ok, now that I've rambled on, back to the regularly scheduled programming :rolleyes2
Thanks!
That's true

Remember 16 oz by weight and 16 fluid oz are not the same thing. One pound of wax by weight will always be one pound.
Thanks so much!
LOL...I should've known that but I was having a huge case brain gas!
I guess I was getting that weight and volume mixed up!
Goodness,I've been making soap for over 3 years now!
Candles intimidate me alot..lol..

and it definitely weighs the same in every state - from Alaska to Washington j/k
hehe.....that was a good one!!
OK I feel like a big ole doofus....LOL.....I guess I just got bumfuzzled there for a minute!
Okey dokey...so I will go with the 1.5 (for example) oz fo per 1 lb of pre melted wax...LOL....I need a DERRRRRR smilie!!
Jenn A
-
I know I am asking really silly questionsd but I just got to thinking about and wasn't sure to figure it for before or after it was melted....since it weighs different in each state.
Thanks,

Thanks,I have a bunch of the jellies,too.
I want to use the tins.Still comparing prices

I use the short Ball Elite Platinum jars from Wal-Mart. They melt really quickly with 4627 and any other wax I have.
I tried so hard to find those today but could only find the wide mouth pints.DO you think those would be ok to use?If not that's fine,I'll save them for jelly next year They were on clearance.
Thanks!

I made wickless in 8 oz square mason jars using 4627 and didn't have any luck with getting it to completely melt.
Oh wow,thanks!
Hmmm.....I was thinking that wa slike a really soft container wax with a low MP.
thank you for your input

You're welcome. 4627 is a bit of a booger to wick, but the throw is amazing, IMHO (especially in the wickless). If you need any, I have an extra case in the classy's.
Oh wopnderful!!I've been wanting to try it out!
Honey,I dunno if I even want to attempt the wicks right now..lol....I have too much going on as it is and I'm wearing down
Thank you again so much,I'll go take a look.

4627 has the absolute best throw, but it is a little messy.
Oooo, thank you very very much Angela

I use the 8 oz. tins & just use the container wax I have. Any of them should be good.
thank you!
Jenn A

any of them should work just fine. I personally use 4786 or soy but its up to you. I use tins also BTW.
Thank you so much Theresa!
I love the looks of the tins,no body around here uses them so they would sell good IF I ever wanted to do that.
Have a great day,

hehe...try saying that 10 times fast!
I am going to make up some wickless for gifts this year (after I test them of course!)
I am still on the fence whether to use some wide mouth pint canning jars that WM has for 4 bucks a dozen or using some 8 oz tins.I really like the tins but those jars are a great price.
But first I need to figure out which wax would be the best.
I am going to be going to Ky Candle next week.My SIL is going to buy a bunch of her pre blended container wax.I may try some of that.
Out of these: J223,J50,IGI comfort blend,IGI 4786,Peaks performance blend, Which do you all think would be the best?Or would any of them work just fine?
ACKKK......all these choices...lol.....
THANK you all SO much and sorry for being such a pain in the behind!

earlyamericancandlesupplies.com will send you as many 2lb. samples as you order as long as you pay shipping...luckily, they are within driving distance of me, so I visit every once in a while and pick up samples...I've got at least 3 different waxes waiting to be sampled(it's a good problem to have:cheesy2: ).
HTH
Thank you SO much!
Oh that would be so neat to live that close to a wax supplier!
I live about 1 1/2 hrs from KY Candle,so I don't get up there as much as I would like.
I can't find where to order the samples I figure I am just looking right overt top of it.

You can also do an ISO post in the Classifieds with the particular wax you're looking for. I've done this and I've also responded to others iso posts and sent them a lb or two to try.
Jen
Hi Jen,that's a great idea
I ahve a ton of soaping/toiletries stuff I can trade,too (if that's allowed)
I will tyr dto do that tomorrow if I get home on time.We have had football games out the wazoo!
It's 1 am and I just got home from one a little bit ago.It was a good one though,we beat a team that we haven't beaten since 1994...LOL..and they didn't like it one bit...LMBO.....Oh it was a good one alright.
Then my middle schooler has one tomorrow.

www.canwax.com sells 1lb samples of the waxes they carry.
Ooooo,thank you so much!
They do have 1 of the waxes I wanted to try.

Thanks so much for the links.
I wasn't sure if there was anyone who sold small amounts or not
Looks like I will buy the 10-11 lb slabs.

Almost every place I know of that carries wax have either 10 lb or 11 lb slabs or bags (depending on what type of wax it is) - but here's one I did find that sells smaller amounts
Keefers Kandles - http://www.keeferskandlesandsupplies.com/
I have never ordered anything from them so know nothing about them other than their prices on the larger amounts (cases) is a bit higher than others I have found
HTH
Thank you
I didn't realize that the 11 lb were the samples..lol....
I will check them out!

<wow that was fast,thanks!>
I have some of the KY125 but was wanting to try the J50,IGI comfort blend, and the igi 4786.
I want to make a few candles in the 8 oz tins and not sure which wax I want to use yet
I am just doing it for personal use,not to sell.So I wasn't wanting to buy a whole lot of it.
Thanks!
Jenn A

Thank you both SO much.
I am just going to be making wickless for gifts ..guess I should've said that in the first place huh?
I have some of her kysoy125 that I bought a long time ago when I first started soapmaking.
I may just try both. Thanks again,
Jenn A
