  1. Hi,

Does it smell like ammonia? If so,it is the milk. Most of the time it will go away as it cures.

When I soap with milk(s),I do cp.I freeze my milk flat in a baggie.I get all my my oils melted and ready to go,add my frozen milk to the lye.As soon as the lye is dissolved I add it to the oils.

I do not insuate my molds.

I have gotten the best resuts with this method. This wasn't my idea,I **think** it was Cyndi from Muller's Farm.

    HTH,

  2. Hi,

Most people around here don't care if it's ao or vo BUT I do get one every now and then that wants all veggie so I do make them both ways. Not all of my fo's (which I haven't noticed having to use more when using lard) just a few...like OMH,Love Spell....the more popular ones.

  3. I use clamshells for leftovers from pouring my containers with J50. I don't sell them, just use them for myself and they come out okay. I think that a mix of votive and container wax pops out easier, but they still come out fine and smell great.

    Thank you so much!

I have a bunch of J50,I think I'll make a few of those too.

  4. Jenn, the KY125 will work fine in the clamshells,

I am able to get the J50 to release easily from the clamshells that are NOT ones WSP sells. I was using the ones that are flatter and the lid doesn't come permanently attached, do you know which ones I mean? I've used J50 in those many times and the bar of wax popped out in one piece without any damage to either the wax or the clamshell. I think the WSP clamshells are a good bit deeper and the cavities are a little different so I don't know if the J50 will release from those.

    DanaE

Hi Dana, thank you very much :)

I am using the ones that come in 2 pieces.

I got to thinking about it and that makes alot of sense!I should have thought that if I had to scoop that wax out of the bag that it never would of come out of the shell...LOL....

I am going to try the parasoy and perfect blend today.

    Thanks!

  5. Hi :)

I was wondering which of these waxes would work with the clamshells.

I could only get my hands on so many and Ive already ruined one with IGI comfort blend ~LOL...what WAS I thinking?!~

    I have these waxes:

From KY: 125,parasoy and perfect blend.

and then I have some J223 and J50.

I appreciate any and all help on this.

    Also,do you all color your's?

Think they would sell ok with no color?

    Thanks!

  6. What DO you do with the wax once the scent is gone?

    Can you re scent it?

I am new at candles but have made a few wicked and wickless.I like the wickless best myself because I am terribly forgetfull.I have left the house before with a candle burning before :shocked2: I just about died when I got home and saw that I had forgotten it burning!

A soaper frined of mine's house burnt down a couple of years ago because they forgot to extinguish a candle.Fires just scare the crap out of me.

So that's the reason I like to make the wickless.I make mine either in the 8 oz jj or the 8 oz tins.I have found that the tins melt quicker and throw alot better.

The thing I worry most about w/the wickless is a child (or anyone) spilling that hot wax all over them. That would be terrible.

  7. Oooo,I'll bet the creamy praline pecan is awesome too.

    I like KY's caramel pecan...yumm!

I have some of Peak's capp. hazelnut that I am going to try today.

have any of you ever tried soaping the amish harvest?

I am thinking about trying that today since I FINALLY found some lye.I had used up my supply and could not find it locally anywhere until last night.

  8. I know this has been discuss before but I am having problems finding it. If not, could you tell me where is the most common place to get them. I am having a hard time deciding if I want to go with colored bottles or the clear. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

    Hi,

I got a big order of bottles from them (green) and I love them.

They shipped fast and have pretty decent prices if you buy alot.

  9. Oh man....just stop! You are soooo making me want to try. I actually even have a basic soap kit sitting in my candle storage room right now. It has a wooden mold and a few oils and butters. I have tons of EO's and FO's too. I've been buying my homemade soap from a fantastic soapmaker in OH for about 4 or 5 years now and I guess because she's so good that I could never even come close to what she makes. I appreciate you offering to help me out. I may just have to take you up on that offer. Don't be surprised if you get a PM from me before Christmas!!

    LOL.....it is very fun!

Oh hun,you NEED to use that kit :)

I know you can just as good soap as anyone else, darling! Just like candles,it takes practice and experimenting!

    I welcome your pm's anytime!
