  1. I think you should be ok. I put 70 oz of oil in the rainbow meadow's calculator which doesn't discount the water for you. It said there should be 26 oz if you are using water or non-milk liquid. For milk it said there should be 35 oz. So you would still be within the normal range even if you forgot to subtract out the water for the GM added.

  2. However, I would wonder why a wax that can be used for a votive could not be used for a pillar. Since I have never made a pillar or a votive and have not studied up on it, I would not really know why this would be.
The votive waxes are kind of in between a container wax and a pillar wax. They are hard enough to come out of a mold. But not so much so that they could stand up by themselves when lit.
  3. Holly, I have not tried 4794 for tarts (or any tarts for that matter) but in votives it works great including cold throw. 4786 has good cold throw too, but you'll need to mix it with something harder, for on its own I doubt you'd be able to get it out of the mold.

  4. I may email one or two of the sellers and ask. Can't hurt anything.

You could always phrase it like... "could you let me know how is it intended to be used? is it ok to take it to the shower where water might get in since I didn't see a preservative listed?"

  5. If the item doesn't contain water (e.g. if the scrub is just oil, sugar/salt, FO and color) it may be ok without preservative although if water is likely to be introduced into it (such as in the case of the scrub) then it is advisable to have a preservative in there. I don't know if those sellers on etsy you were looking at simply did not provide a full ingredient list for their product, or if they really weren't preserving them. I guess you could always contact them to ask, if you are interesting in buying something from them.

  6. Tootie, you are right we are in the middle of nowhere. Which is why I was asking about this supplier. It is out of the question for me to try to drive somewhere to pick up wax, as it would basically involve a 1,000 mile round trip. The place I used to buy from (in Reno) is closing, so I may have no choice but to order from Let it Shine, just like you.

  7. Well if I want to use the 6006 wax I have no choice but to order from them.

    tootie

Tootie, when you say you have no choice but to order from them, is it because other suppliers who carry it are further away from you and so the shipping would be too much? Or is it because most suppliers don't carry this wax?

  8. If you're contacting them, you could ask for a "translation" of all their waxes. I've done that before so I can always go back to reference them if I am considering a different wax later on. I don't understand why some suppliers would rename their waxes like this, and making it confusing for us.

  9. Flutterbye, I have kept my resume updated even though I have not actually submitted it to anywhere. I write the candle portion in the same format as the other jobs I've had. For the job title, I just put owner. For the employer/company name, I just put the name of my store. Then I put a brief description of my daily responsibilities, which Coconut and Carlee have already spelled out. As for salary information, I didn't usually give that out anyway, at least not on my resume.

  10. I use this wax but have not experienced this problem before. I wonder if it is a manufacturing problem and not really related to which supplier you got it from. Is the water a lot? If so, you might contact the supplier to see if they can replace it for you. If it's a 60 lb case but you only ended up with 50 lbs of wax because the rest was water, then it wouldn't be fair to you.

  11. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. I don't understand how USPS and UPS and other shipping companies get away with rounding up to the next pound. If you were purchasing a product in a store, and they tried to charge you for 3 lbs of meat instead of what the scale reads (let's say 2 lbs. 3 oz.) they would get in huge trouble if they did this. Why can they get away with it?

    Nancy

Nancy, my guess is that postage is more like parking instead of meat. If the garage (such as the one at the airport) charges $4 per hour, then if you leave after 1 hr 5 mins, you'd be charged the 2 hour rate, or $8. They do not pro-rate it unlike meat.
  12. From your list, I've only used the lavender, rosemary, and lemongrass. Each of these works fine by itself. You can combine lavender and rosemary in equal proportions - it's a simple blend which comes out really nice.

  13. If you can weigh it and have internet access & a printer, you can pay for and then print your own postage at home - https://sss-web.usps.com/cns/landing.do

You know, I had wondered about borderline cases like these, which makes me hesitant to print and pay for postage at home. If I weigh it here and it's 2 lbs and I pay the 2 lb rate, then if the post office weighs it when they get the package and come up with 2 lb 0.1 oz, would they send the box back to me to pay extra to make up for the 3 lb rate? It would be nice if they could have 1/2 lb increments so there isn't such a big jump in price between a 2 lb 0.1 oz box and a 2 lb box.
