  1. My most expensive FO is $20.95 a pound which is Patchouli from Tristate. I will not use any other Patch...but I always order at leat 3lbs at a time so I get $2 off ea pound. Other than that one I will not pay over $19 a pound. That is why I refuse to order from places like Candle Caccoon. Their scents are great but I can get just as good from Tristate, Peak and Just Scent....and a FEW from BCN.... and not effect my profit margin IMO.

  2. Apples & Oak by Nature's Garden

    Tall Grass by Peaks

Sage, Sweetgrass, & Cedar by Bubbles n Lights

    Tiger Eyes by Bitter Creek

OMG girl...if you like the Sage, Sweetgrass & cedar buy the 2oz I have had for sale FOREVER! I think it smells like a litter box...lol

  3. hi all i need some help i've got 2000.00 to start something that will i hope will be a life changing biz.....i'm hoping someone can tell me what i need to start a candle makeing biz me and my wife think this can realy work and if not at least we will have the best smelling house in town:laugh2: so if u can please help by showing us what we need and where to start thx dave & wendy

first thing...buy some supplies. We cant tell you what to buy as it sounds like you have never even made a candle. This is not a get rich quick business. I have been doing this for 4 yrs now and still not able to quit my job as an Insurance Agent. If you are looking to start this as a side business be ready to sacrafice a lot...mostly free time and sleep.

If you do your research and testing the end result should be a nice, safe, sellable candle.

  4. hmmm, the makers of the wooden molds on ebay (soapmoldmakers) don't seem to have that great of feedback...I wouldn't feel comfortable ordering from them.

Where can I look at Southern Bell Molds?

I was a little leary of that too. There are 2 different sellers selling that type of mold. I got mine within 2 weeks. I am a wooden mold gal. I have a southern belle mold too. But I have to say I really love the mold that Mystical put the pic up of. I have never had my bars so uniform in size!!!!!

If you have messing with freezer paper like I do....make a liner out of mylar. For my small molds I just use Transparencies and bend them to fit the mold. Then after you unmold the soap just wash it off and you are ready for another batch!

  5. I do HUGE Fundraisers every yr.....like over 5,000 candles. Personally, I would NEVER offer votives....too much work! I offer 9oz hex jars in at least 12 scents. The group picks the scents, however, I do make suggestions as to my top sellers.

If this is your first fundraiser I would keep it simple. Dont overwhelm yourself. My first fundraiser 4 yrs ago was over 1,800 candles and that was very overwhelming to me as I did not expect those sort of numbers. Also, make sure you give yourself enough time to deliver. I make sure I have at least 3 full weekends before I have to deliver the product as I and my partner both work full time jobs.

Just dont get yourself in too deep. Good Luck!

  6. I got the 1lb mold from them just to do test batches...I think they sent me the wrong one. It held a tad over 2lbs of soap. I personally didnt like it because the pegs were not in there good.

Honestly for a log mold you CAN NOT go wrong with Southern Belle molds. They have an ebay store.
