  1. I started out with my faithful Tri State Candle Supply...but thier prices are not cheap on the budget so I looked elsewhere. I used BitterCreek for the bulk of my oils...especially on fundraisers. However, that was until I tried Just Scent. Becky is great to work with and has awesome prices and even better sales!

Out of the 60 scents I carry in my line I have weeded the ones that I use from Bitter Creek to 3.

Just a warning...although I use a lot of scents from JS...and Tristate of course...Just Scents Pink Sugar sucks a$$! thats just my opinion though...lol

  2. I have some of it and it isnt that bad. She includes the thickening agent with it...all you do is add it to the gallon and shake.

You have to be careful and not add too much FO because it does thin pretty easily.

I use the shampoo base myself and it isnt bad either. I also have a couple gallons of the Aloe lotion...feels pretty good...and the price is definitly right!

    HTH

  3. ok...the soap gremlins must be here at my house tonight..:( .GO AWAY! Is there some sort of dance...spell...or chant that will get rid of them?:waiting:

I made 2 batches tonight....one scent, Pink Sugar, that I have not tried before and the other, Rose, that I have soaped before.

Well, the Pink Sugar behaved beautifully..I was going to try to layer it so that the unscented part would not turn brown. I thought it was at a thick enough trace so I added the colored unscented portion...it just sank right in like I was doing a swirl:angry2:...so hopefully that one will look ok.

The second one was Peak Rose...last time I soaped it no problem at all...was even able to get a two color swirl!...this time, however, went all to hell! I got a false trace as soon as I added the lye to the oils....so I was dealing with icky sticky CRAP! I already had 2 colors mixed ...so I gloped some soap into them ......then I scooped it into my mold. For some reason it wasnt enough to fill the mold. SO I then spooned it out into an oval PVC mold I have. We will see how that goes as I dont have really good luck with plastic molds.

I was going to make more Lotion tonight but I am scared to now! Maybe I should just go to bed and get up and try again tomorrow.

Oh BTW....according on how the soap turns out...look for an Oval PVC Mold in the classifieds monday or tuesday!:P

  5. Peppercoen???...I have often wondered who the heck would want a peppercorn scented candle. May have to have a sample the see what all the hype is about.

Sage and Citrus...as always TriState Candle Supply...cant reccomend their Fo's enough. Good seller for me. VERY strong. I also got a sample of JS Sage &C and it is nice also.

  6. Hey Ginger...how are ya? Have ya moved back my way yet? LOL...hope this is the right Ginger.

I have whipped and whipped this stuff and it still will not stay fluffy. When I add more oils it isnt really bubbly. I add apricot kernal meal to mine to use as a facial scrub. I always have to follow up with a moisturizer though.

  7. I'm not sure what they put it there lol I won't eat it LOLOL

SMART CHOICE! There is a VERY upscale rest. in Louisville, KY ...Burgoo is the House Specialty soup. I asked what it was once....after that there was no way I was eating it. Some of the origional was made from opossum...but a commercial eatery isnt allowed to use wild game like opossum.

I have to say it smells awesome...but I still aint eating it!:P

  8. Unfortunatly, Insurance company rules and regulations differ from state to state. Also, some of you who have your insurance with a Major carrier like Allstate or Statefarm need to check and see if your insurance is actually underwritten by that company...or if it is brokered out to another company.

I write insurance for Allstate but I have broker authority with a couple Mutual companies that write only business ins. In the state of NY, Allstate or any of my broker companies, will not write PL for a candle or B&B business. However, they will in Florida...or at least that is what I have been told.

I had a friend who is an Independent Agent write me a 1million PL policy for my candles and B&B ...it only costs $182.00 a yr!

If any of you are in Upstate NY pm me...I can hook you up. NYC...sorry...cant help.

Dont give up...Insurance is out there at a reasonable price.

  9. I think it would be sort of unethical of me to not have Insurance.....seeing how I am an Insurance Agent...:P

I did not have Insurance when I was in the testing and selling here and there to friends stage....but as soon as I got my first wholesale account I got Insurance. Even though I am sort of starting over from a divorce and dont have a lot for anyone to take at this time.....I do not want to get sued by someone and have them attach my future wages!

  10. Oh believe me there are dishonest kids...and PARENTS out there. Last yr with my big fundraiser that I posted pics of....the school had to take one parent to court because the parent spent the kids candle money and wrote the school a $600 check that bounced! I had regular customers that told me they ordered candles from a couple of the kids and never received them. So, yes, it can happen!

with my fundraiser I let the organization pick 10 scents...I suggest my best sellers but it is up to them the scents they pick. I print an order form and the scent descritions and a little about my company on the other side. The kids take orders for usually 2 weeks. The organization has to pay me half when they palce the order and then the other half on delivery.

I have 4 fundraiser back to back this fall/winter...gonna be BUSY!!!!!!!

  11. Just a guess here...but you are very new to shrink wrapping arent you?

Scented told ya what ya needed to do. Unless you want to wrap it and tape the shrink wrap on the bottom then shrink it.

If you are going to shrink wrap...INVEST IN AN IMPULSE SEALER.

    Good Luck

  12. When dealing with Product Liability Insurance it is a really broad and general biz. I had PL for my candles and it was lumped all together as "crafters" . I called the company when I started doing B&B and they said since I had a policy in place that they would extend to cover my B&B. Not all compnies will do that...but most of the ones I write Insurance for will unless it is expressed as a named exclusion on the policy.

  13. LOL...my partner Jeff makes all my labels. Well, I am doing wedding favors for one of my co workers. (My wedding present to her) Jeff made some great looking tags for the votives...awesome iron ons for the air freshener bags. He even put a cute thing on there...."Custom Manufactured for Mr & Mrs Morse By Corning Wax Works, Corning, NY 14830".....Can ya see anything he left out?????

    OUR PHONE NUMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

I am NOT redoing 250 favors!....lol I am gonna kill him! But, I guess that will learn me to proof read:p
