Alajane
First--Merry Christmas Eve!!Now to the problem. I have a tentative new wholesale account who really wants 12-oz apothecary jars. I told him I would give him a price on those after the first of the year, so I'm in desperate search of them. I have a few cases of these, which didn't sell well for me, so I've been testing wicks and fragrances in the jars I have on hand. But I can't find them anywhere--at a price anywhere near reasonably!! Most of the supply companies I've found have 8-oz or 10-oz jars which look very much like the jars I have that hold 12 ounces. I know I've read on here about jars being called different sizes by different suppliers. Does anyone know where I could find 12-oz apothecary jars, preferably in the southeast US?TIA,Jane
CaftCandles
Alajane, do you have a picture of the jars you have? Some people call all similar jars "Apothacary Jars" even though the manufactures call them something else. It may be that your jars are not called Apothacary by the supplier. Post a picture if you have one or describe them in detail and I will be happy to help you look for them.
Alajane
This is the style jar I'm looking for. This is a 16-oz jar; the 12-oz is the same width. just not as tall. Thanks, Jane
CaftCandles
Here are some I found, There are 2 different size jars and I didn't know which one you have so compare the sizes before you buy. HTHAztec, Knoxville, TNhttp://www.candlemaking.com/store/Apothocary-Jars-P421C7.aspxThe Candlemakers Store, Hamilton, OHhttp://www.thecandlemakersstore.com/category/jars.apothecary___glass_lid/Candle Science, Morrisville, NChttp://www.candlescience.com/containers/8oz-apothecary-jar/Bitter Creek South, Stafford TXhttp://www.bittercreeksouth.com/containers.htm
Alajane
Thanks so much. I had checked Aztec and CS, but hadn't thought of the other two. It looks like BCS is my best bet. The jars come out to $1.83 delivered and everywhere else was over $2.00 per jar. I'll have to check with the account to see if they want to pay what these will cost them wholesale, but am so glad you reminded me of BCS!!Jane

I think maybe it's even cheaper than me trying to put a lid on the 7.25 oz Libbey Elemental jars I get from Hobby Lobby on 50% off sale for .70 cents apiece. Can a short 4" diameter jar like that be single-wicked? I think there's a local chandler who does it all the time, but don't know what wick they use. Alajane
I've been testing with an LX28 and so far so good. I'm about halfway through the burn and it has done well so far. I'm looking forward to seeing if it does okay to the bottom.
