electric grubby candle melting - any suggestions

Recommended Posts

I am trying to make a new electric grubby candle with a 2.25" center. I normally make the candles with the larger opening, but some prefer the look of the smaller opening. I am using a 3 watt bulb in the 2.25" center candle, but am getting some softning and melting inside. I am using IGI 4794 wax 128 mp. Should I be adding something to the wax for use with the smaller opening? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

I had the same problem when I made these, that was about 8 years ago so I'm sure things have changed. I had to add an even higher melt point wax to prevent it. The wax your using has a way too low of a melt point. I think I even added some micro 180 MP to them. Even heard you could add high melt glue sticks to harden it up. There use to be a lot of info on this site about them but I don't know how to go back that far. Maybe someone who knows will pipe in.
