dpg replacement

I'm thinking IPM would not be a good substitute for DPG in incense. I checked the MSDS at Lotioncrafter for both products. The flashpoint for the IPM is 150 degrees. For the DPG, 280 degrees. I know that DPG is used as a wetting agent to help the fragrance spread and it helps with the black smoke.

I'm really not sure how important the flashpoint would be on incense. How hot is the burning tip? No idea, good question. I know for fragrance burner oils, I use DPG to raise the flashpoint of the fragrance oils. So, to me, IPM would not work for that. I would think the same would hold true for incense.

I accidently used IPM instead of DPG when making incense.. They caught fire halfway through the burn. ugh! I have since separeted them in my cabinet so as not to use IPM again by mistake. I honestly don't know if it can be replaced for the incense. I've only used DPG (except for my oops). :)
