lauramw71
I've just started dabbling in candles. I have a slab of the 4630 from candlescience and was wondering if I can make tarts out of this? The site said it holds 9% FO load. Will that be enough for tarts? Thanks for the help!!Laura
IwantItgreen
Hi! 4630 is a container wax, so may be a little too soft for tarts. The 9% FO load is fine, just that it may be a little difficult getting them out of the mold. Popping them in the freezer may help to remove them. If these are for yourself, I'd try it, then you know! coconut
4630 is too soft for tarts, IMO. It is fine for wickless. It will hold 9%FO but you probably won't need that much since it has great throw.
lauramw71
Thanks so much!! I think i'll just stick with using these for my container candles. I just make these for myself so this slab is going to last quite a while HAHA~
redquilt
You can always blend 4630 with a pillar or votive wax to make tarts.I've done that. Or if these are just for yourself you can use 4630 straight pour them in the metal tart molds and pop them in the freezer before unmolding. Freezing shrinks the wax and helps to cause it to release from the mold.
lauramw71
I might have to give this a try. I'm just doing these for myself. Have no intentions of ever selling a candle, I'll stick to B&B, that keeps me busy enough. LOL I'm trying to get away from my addiction to Gold Canyon cuz that empties my bank account out. haha
EnvyCandles
I have used 4630 for tarts, but really only for experimentation... holy fingerprints!! unless you package them right away they are mushy! And DO NOT stack them together, you will have problems pulling them apart...or, just make sure the scents you stack smell good together!!
