hotmama Posted September 14, 2010 Share Posted September 14, 2010 It seems no matter how hard I try to get all the air bubbles out of my palm pillars, about 1/4 down and after 3-4 hours of burning I get a crack in the side and wax pours out. hotmama Posted September 14, 2010 Author Share Posted September 14, 2010 I'm using a #1 square braid from Peaks for a 3" diameter. The type of palm is tortoise shell and I'm pouring at 200 degrees. Perfect burn leaving about 1/2" (maybe a tiny bit less) around the edge, then before you know it---eruption! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Stella1952 Posted September 15, 2010 Share Posted September 15, 2010 I don't use that wick, but I have found that if there's 1/2" or less left during the first inch or two of a pillar, by the time the wick burns down into it (when the heat will be more contained) a blowout is almost assured. Try wicking down a size to see if that helps. You could also wick up one for a more complete burn... just depends on what you are going for. Good luck.
