diamondk
Is there a rule of thumb on how much you should use ppo in CP soap ? I know I only use a half of ounce of Rose Bouquet in my candles would I start there for my soaps or start with an ounce ppo? TIA
Purple Lilac
I think this is a matter of preference - I have had success over the years by using 1/2 to 3/4 of an ounce pp. Some like to use more but IMO it is not necessary. If I can use 1/2 ounce pp I can get two batches to the ones that use 1 oz pp.
cindym
It really depends on the fo you are using really strong ones like peaks lavender I use 1/2 oz per lb the rose I would say i use the same maybe a little more. Green Tea I use one ounce per lb cause I just love the scent strong on that one.
diamondk
Thanks for your replies. Ok I guess I can pretty much go by what I use for my candles pp since I know which ones are strong ones for me.
RobinInOR
So far I've found that relationship true between candles and soaps - if you use less than usual in candles, you'll probably be able to use less than usual in soaps. Course CP can do strange things to fragrances I usually test at .5 oz ppo since I'll probably have a 1 ounce sample and do 2# recipes. At least I can tell if it works OK, and know if I need to go up for my next batches.
diamondk
Thanks Robin. I have a bunch of samples that I wanted to try in soaps and just didn't know if I would have enough. I am hoping to do my first cp this weekend that is if I don't chicken out because of the lye thing again.
