Question about pour temps

Recommended Posts

Folks, I'm testing the new wood wicks from Wicks Unlimited (MUCH better than the wood wicks being sold by certain suppliers). I'm testing using a 24-26 oz apothecary and I use J50. It seems that the wax pulls away from the wood wicks and, when I light it the first time, there is a massive sink hole which pretty much extinguishes the wick right after lighting.

I pour in large quantities, so relief holes aren't an option. Would pouring cooler help? Pouring hotter? Would doing two pours help? I would love some help here as I'm racking my brain trying to figure this out.
