They last for a very long time, I have yet to have one go bad. Then for larger batches there are the electric Turkey fryers. mparadise Posted June 1, 2010 Share Posted June 1, 2010 I have a bunch of presto's but I also picked up a big (75 lb) water jacketed & a big (100 lb) direct heat melter on Craigslist for $150 each. It all depends on what size you are looking for. Figure out exactly what size & type of melter you are looking for and keep your eyes open. There are TONS of deals out there right now.
