naturestherapy
I am just starting the process of researching silicone molds. For those of you that have used them, what wax works the best? What can you tell me about the wicking process? Anything else I should know. I am thinking about making embeds and grubby pillars. Thanks,Traci
French Hill
I use a parasoy blend and that works great. Paraffin is great. Straight soy can be difficult to get out of the silicone mold. What I would do with straight soy is spray the inside of the mold lightly with pam or some type of cooking oil. Don't use "mold release spray" because you will ruin your mold. I don't like to put any wick holes in my molds so I use a wick pin (upside down) and keep the pin in place by straddling it with bamboo skewers. beekeeper_sd
I use my silicone molds to make 100% beeswax candles. I wick directly through the mold and use 100% silicone spray that you get from the hardware store as a mold release. I use only silicone molds for my pillars, tapers, tea lights and all floating candles. They work fantastic. I only wish I could get silicone molds for the votives.
