Firefly
Hello,I use this recipe:2 grams Citric Acid14 grams Liquid Glycerin24 grams Stearic Acid49 grams Emulsifying Wax40 grams Mango Butter70 grams Sweet Almond Oil20 grams Colorless Jojoba Oil823 grams Distilled Water8 grams Optiphen Plusexcept I swap out the jojoba with whatever oil I have on hand and use Shea instead of Mango. The problem is it's too thick for this type of container that I like to use:Any ideas how to really think it out? More water (I know I'll have to adjust the Optiphen) less shea butter than what it calls for? Or should I just try and find a light lotion recipe instead like a milk lotion. I want something in between a milk lotion (that tends to be thin) and a lotion. Right now this recipe turns out more like a body butter. OverSoyed
Do you plan on scenting them?I haven't ventured into lotions yet, but I've noticed a lot of bases that say they are super thick, but thin out a bit when FO is added.
Starr
I do my lotions a bit differently then you do, but I suggest adding more water to thin it out. HTH
Firefly
Thanks, yes I scent my lotions. I'll try more water and will also look for another lotion recipe that is on the lighter side.
rcrafty
I would drop the Stearic.Or if you want to have stearic and ewax, keep them close to a combined % of 5%....ex: stearic 3% and ewax 2%.Hope this helps :smiley2:
