ladysj
I have a lotion recipe I would like to try it calls for 5% ewax. I want to sub out some of the ewax for cetyl. I was thinking 3% ewax & 2% cetyl. Or should I reverse the numbers. I'm wanting a smoother feeling lotion not that waxy feeling.
MarieJeanette
I'm brand new to lotion making, but from what I understand, e-wax is an emulsifier and cetyl alcohol is a thickener (two different things with two different purposes). Do you have any stearic acid in your lotion recipe? If so, I would use cetyl alcohol in place of it, because from what I've read it's the stearic that gives one a waxy feeling in lotion. I use cetyl alcohol instead of stearic and really like it. My lotions are very smooth.MarieJeanette
